i don't get how russel has earned a starter spot atall.

I'm most impressed w/ the running of Justin Fargas this year, he finally got a chance and proved that he's pretty much top ten rb this year.

The oline isn't horrible or fargas wouldn't have performed so well, so I disagree there, and I also think the overall record is deceptive since they're much better than last year.

I do think they need better recievers though, and a bit of work on run D and they'll be above 500.

Keep Mcowan, and Fargas as starters!

I guess if the Raiders wanted to be one of the worst teams in the NFL again next year they could follow this plan.

Fargas is not a top 10 back in the NFL. McCown is not a starter. Nothing more to say.

Berrian will get overpaid for somewhere if he doesnt resign with the Bears.

McCown is a backup, at best. He's had too many chances to earn a nod, and just hasn't impressed in any of them.

As for Fargas, I like the guy, but inking someone with his injury history to a big contract would be a stupid move.

Fargas is nowhere near a top 10 RB, so they better not pay him like one. I'd like to see them keep him at a reasonable price, but let some other fools over pay for him. They already gave Jordan a ridiculous contract for a good not great RB, no need to repeat the same mistake. Hopefully Bush will pan out.
'nowhere near' ? He is the best running back on the team and had top ten stats. Lamont Jordan is crap. Fargas does have that injury question though because he is pretty small for an nfl player. Fargas won the fedex ground award twice this season, and had a better ypc than most superstars for most of the season. This is just more evidence that the guy is going to continue to get zero respect.

I would like to ask people to guess at what kind of stats Manning or Brady or any other elite qb would have playing for the raiders w/ no change to the roster?

my guess for either Brady or Manning. 3000 yards, 20 td's and 15 ints.

Why do you keep bringing up this top 10 crap. Fargas is NOT a top 10 back and DOES NOT have top 10 stats, period.

I'm not absolutely sure Berrian is a huge upgrade from Porter. I still stick by my beliefs last year that I know the Raiders needed a QB, but dammit Calvin Johnson was a once in a lifetime prospect. Granted the Raiders had no idea they were going to end up getting Culpepper, but I think they could have run one more season on Culpepper/McCown/Walter or taken a QB in the 2nd round.

isnt jamarcus russell a once in a lifetime prospect?hes like a physical specieman for a qb i mean i like calvin and all but i am really happy with the pick of russell, seems to be a fast learner and has a good work ethic according to daunte and kiffen.

Re: oakland raiders have eye on berrian

McCown is a good backup. HE knows the system, is really a team player, and does everything the coaching staff asks of him.

He fully understands that Russell is the starter, and it was just a matter of time before Kiffin turned over the O to him. McCown also has shown a willingness to help mentor Russell, and is not hell bent to leave Oakland for s shot at a starting job elsewhere.

I would like to see Fargas resigned, but not at an exhorbitant cost.

I would be happy with Berrian, Andre Davis or Bryant Johnson. Maybe Johnnie Lee Higgins can develop into a legitimate deep threat, but they desperately need some help at WR.
