That difference is minimal though (3 points for 2008, 1 point for their careers).

The big difference I see is in completion percentage. Brees is outrageous this year (72%!) and he finished with a 67% rate last year. I didn't know he was so accurate. And judging by the amount of yards he put up, it doesn't look like it's dinks and dunks either.

its a lot of short stuff that Reggie Bush turns into good plays. You dont have a RB record nearly 200 catches over 32 games without throwing "dinks and dunks." Last year he was 20th in yards per attempt.

They are pretty close as it stands now. Rivers was inconsistent this past week, but he's been as good as anyone this season despite playing with a depleted offense, much like Brees has.

I'd take either guy at this point, but I do have a soft spot for Mr. Brees. Rivers does have that swagger you want in an NFL QB though, and the kid is a gym rat, a coaches son. He's all about football.

Both have been outstanding this season.

I don't want to put him at the top, b/c I can't convince myself that Manning would snap out of it. Also if Brady were healthy. BUT, if those two were on top of their games, he'd definitely be on that third revolving door that continues to spin.

Brees does dink and dunk to a point but he is very smart and accurate with the ball. He doesn't have turnover problems and puts up big nimbers. I love Rivers but I do miss Brees. I never understood the "he can't throw the long ball" statement that was going on when he was with SD. The only thing that ever bugged me about him was that wierd birth mark on his face. Your a multi-millionaire. Laser that of or something for crying out loud,

I think a strong case could be made that he is. I've always been a fan of Drew Brees.
