He is right now. I am biased as I'm a big Drew Brees fan. He's a class act all the way and I'm glad he's doing some great things with the Saints and Payton

Would you guys really take Drew Brees over a healthy Peyton Manning and Tom Brady? Sorry, but that is just mind boggling.

Brees is a nice qb. But he does not possess the pocket presense of Brady, the knowledge of defenses that Peyton has, Brady or Manning's cannon arms, or their field vision. The only thing he does great is hit his receiver in stride.

My thoughts exactly. The list goes like this:

1 - Brady
2 - Peyton Manning

3-32 - Everyone else.

No way in hell I'd give Brees the nod over Brady or Manning. And if by "right now" the OP means through the first 4 weeks of the season than sure, he's had the best first 4 games of the season. But by that criteria, here are some other "best players in the NFL" at the moment:

HB - Michael Turner

WR - Greg Jennings

Defensive Player - Dhani Jones

Defensive Back - Cortland Finnegan

Hey, I'm not taking anything away from Brees. He's had a great start to the year but no way in hell is he better than Manning or Brady.

Yes TJ, you make some great points. How are Brees' skills even remotely comparable to Brady and Manning? The guy plays in the most pass happy offense in the league. Last year Drew attempted over 600 passes ! 600! Of course he puts up great numbers. Anyone can put up great numbers when you attempt over 600 passes.

Because overall...he's a pretty distant third, and to be honest that is not a bad thing at all, because he's behind two Hall of Famers.

Dude has one of the best releases I have ever see and is a magician in the pocket.

He also has a strong arm and is very accurate with it.
