Something worth noting with the Haynesworth situation - he and the Titans are allowed to start working on a new deal after week 17. This is a hugely important point because the Titans have a bye week before their playoffs start and that's plenty of time to finalize a deal they would have been working on months before the season started. Plus, consider this - Haynesworth was close to suffering a serious injury that could have ended his dream of big $$$ on the open market. It's only going to get more physical in the playoffs. He may be able to sway towards signing a deal sooner rather than later.

There is time, money and motivation to get the deal done before the playoffs begin. I believe the Colts did the exact same thing with Sanders last season in their playoff bye week.

Either way it's a key moment in the process. If a deal isn't made, you'd have to wonder why, and assume one won't be made between Feb and March as the Titans have had months to get their deal straight, so I'm sure all interested parties (i.e. 31 other teams in the NFL) will be paying attention to the bye week.
