ESPN = No Class?

I know the draft is a few weeks behind us, but I just saw this today. It's an interesting article on ESPN's draft day coverage. In particular, there reaction to the Raiders pick of Darius Heyward-Bey with the 7th overall pick.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...ey-shows-class

I thought it was ridiculous myself (the reaction...especially by Cris Carter). How can you laugh at someone while doing an interview with them? If I were Heyward-Bey I would have said F*** You ESPN!!!! Anyway, I hope this is fuel to his fire.

They are paid to give their expert opinions, not to be nice to everyone.

Personally, I think it was well deserved to smash the franchise, but not the player. At least wait to do the player then start smashing the Raiders.

I guess what I'm saying is that it may have been low class...but that doesn't make what they were saying any less true.

You know...not once have I considered how all this would make Darius Heyward Bey feel.

On reflection, it's kind of messed up to have the sports world laughing/screaming at a team for believing in you.

I think the extra millions he will make from the 7th spot from the 20's will make him feel better. That, and hopefully fuel him to be better.

That is my problem with it all. DHB probably had a draft party with his mother, father, friends, family there. The way that ESPN reacted to his being taken at 7 was piss-poor. No problem with them saying that this was a reach, but this is his day, Not Mel Kipers, Chris Carters or anyone else who bashed this kid. That's my problem with the whole way they carried them selves. You embarrassed him infront of his friends and family for what, being the 7th overall and 1 WR taken. Bush league. I hope he never grants ESPN an interview the rest of his career.

After watching that,I hope that kid turns out to be the best receiver from this draft. That whole deal is part of the reason I'm slowly tuning out ESPN.

You're right,they get paid to give their opinion. With that said,you can have a little class,especially when you're getting ready to interview the guy with his family around him. That was just crap. But then again it was Cris Carter and Tom Jackson.

Yeah, I'm really pulling for this kid to be something special so much now after all the criticism he's been getting.
