Not too one dimensional to be inducted into the Hall of Fame! RIP DT58.

No.

Jack Ham is in the Hall of fame. He benefited greatly from that awesome offensive line known as the "Steel Curtain". Guess what, only one of that front four is in the Hall of Fame.

Ham is overrated.

Very keen insight here. Agreed.

This can be said for a lot of guys. I fully realize that the Cowboys had some overrated players who benefitted from playing with great teams. Jay Novacek, Russell Maryland, Nate Newton, and Daryl Johnston come to mind. All fine players, but not to the level they were canonized.

Yeah. It's criminal that guys like LC Greenwood still haven't made it in. It was the defensive line that let those LBs just sit back and flow to the ball. Ham was a great coverage LB for what it's worth, sorta like Derek Brooks.

It's always a headache evaluating a great player when he was on a great team. It's why it's easier to call Butkus the best. You can't name another guy on that D unless you're a diehard.

The same argument can not be made for LT,Lewis,Nitshcke,Ham and so on.

My argument against Butkus has more to do with his overall lack of playing speed. He was a great guy for his time, but he's not Jim Brown, or Bullet Bob Hayes. Those guys could play in TODAY'S NFL. Butkus would be moved to DL.

More seriously, Lambert and Butkus are definitely top 5.
Really Chuck Bednarik should be up there, truly OUTSTANDING LB.
