I don't think we're talking about the same Campbell.

I'm assuming he thought you're first post referred to that line.

Ben Tate was in the top 3 in 40 time, Bench, Veritcal and Broad jump. I am really curious what scouts are thinking of him.

I was shocked at how good Gerhart's 40 time was. There were talks of making him switch to FB and he came out and ran as good as the two first round RBs from last year. He outran little Dexter McCluster as well. Still, his challenge will be adjusting his violent running style to the NFL. He wasn't a burner in college and won't be a burner in the pros, so he's got to play to his strength and make it translate. He looks like a solid second round pick to me.

Emmit Smith and Jerome Bettis.

Both taken in the 1st (#17 & #10 overall) and both slower than Gerhart.

They are #1 and #8 on the all time rushing list.

Toby's a 1st round talent who will fall for reasons having nothing to do with his ability.

PFW has his listed as a FB prospect. Sickening...

Not really fair to compare his speed from players drafted over 15 years ago. As a whole the entire NFL is faster now than it was then. I think Gerhart will fit best in a 2 back system as a short yardage guy. I see him as a late 1st to mid 2nd Rounder.

that's the thing with football its so perception driven. in some circles its just how it is , but its not fair.

Teams platoon the HBs now. There are maybe 5 feature backs in the entire NFL today. Usually a speed guy and a power guy with a receiving back to round things out. There's nothing unfair about the comparison. There are lots of power backs in the NFL that are doing just fine.
