Oh well, team should’ve known this would happen as soon as they made that pick.
Pretty much every network would fall all over themselves to get him, and that Romo is being paid $17mil annually, that is an entirely realistic possibility here, IMO.

And yes, the Packers would still hold his rights. But what are they gonna do, keep $30mil in reserve so they can take him back? No guarantee a team would trade for him at that point either. Look no further than Favre leveraging himself out of NY.

Hopefully they're on the phone with the 9ers..

IIRC that was the opposite. Favre waffled on retirement for the 2nd straight year and the Packers told him to get lost.

It took several years before Favre would set foot in GB amicably though.

The Packers handled it about as poorly as could be.

They believed Favre would stay retired. They tried to bribe him to stay retired. Told him he could compete for his job, and got battered in the PR dept every step of the way.... with a HOF QB in the wings they should have been 1000% sold on.

Thompson didn't want Favre to exit the way he did. But for being a life-long football guy, he grossly underestimated Favre's passion for the game.

Gute has unimaginably managed to find himself in a similar situation.

As a Packers fan, I am truly embarrassed.

Re: NFL Off Topic

Trey Wingo has reported the Packers told Rodgers and his agent that he was going to be traded.

I would love to know who Wingos source is on that one.

I hope for the Packers sake that is fake news.

I feel like I should be happy with him potentially leaving the division but I’m convinced Green Bay will always have a Hall of Fame QB for as long as I’m alive while I’m rooting for Andy Dalton
