But when I watch frame-by-frame slow motion I can see where - right or wrong - one of the refs made the TD call based on simultaneous possession.

One thing is clear to me...the media Witch Hunt on replacement refs is outta control.
dude, this goes beyond one call. The whole game was poorly officiated.

I'm not mad at the officials...they're used to reffing HS & low division college (one of these guys officiates the league that Eastern Oregon University is in and is a middle school science teacher). They're out of their league.

The owners AND the referees union needs to compromise and end this thing.

The thing that bothers me is that the NFL had to say "Hey, guys, back off the refs." No. If they make a bad call, they made a bad call and they deserve to hear about it, just as the pros do. It won't change anything, but c'mon. If a coach disagrees with a call, he deserves to have the right to say so.

I dunno... Jennings was going to the ground and "by the rule" would have had to "complete the process of the catch after hitting the ground.

Technically Tate gained simultaneous possession before Jennings had and int/possession - the process of the catch was not complete.

Tate had simultaneous possession. Simultaneous does not mean "the player with better possession" only both players meeting the minimal definition of possessing the ball.

I agree with you point of view on the play looking like a pick in real time, but a catch when you look at certain still shots.

However, the lashing these refs get is well deserved like Dayman and ImTellinTim have said. These guys don't even know all the rules for cryin out loud.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know one of the replacement refs...he was working at a grocery store this time last season...lol.

And I agree that there have been many bad calls, alot of teams have benefited and alot of teams have been hurt. All I'm saying is that the kinds of things some of these media guys are saying about the NFL is outta control. It's a big deal, but they're blowing it even FURTHER out of proportion, IMO. They're being sensationalist about it, which I guess is their job. But this "high and mighty" attitude, snarky remarks and broad-brush "gloom and doom" "end of the world" "the sky is falling" commentary that completely lacks objectivity comes off as unprofessional and juvenile, IMO.

Yeah, I tried to use the pic I posted to prove that point, the pic I used shows Tate looking like he has part of the ball before the second foot is down. I'm not sure if the 2 Foot Down Rule counts in INTs but I think that is what the refs used in this.

I understand what you are saying, but I appreciate ESPN and the NFL Network taking a stand against the refs and the NFL.

It puts a bit of heat on the owners to get something done.
