NFL hipsters were doing that 25 years ago with Emmitt Smith.

I don't think there were internet mediums for people to be doing that 25 years ago.

I didn't say anything about the internet. You didn't need the internet to be a NFL hipster and just lay all of the praise on the Dallas offensive line in the 90s and dismiss the production of the triplets as though it was something anyone could have done.

Ask your garden variety NFL fan that actually remembers the 1990s about Emmitt Smith and a decent portion will just credit the OL and mutter something about Barry Sanders. It's been that way for 20 years.

You have some true anger in you man.

Emmitt was great, Bary was great and so is Zeke.

Enjoy the present, don't worry about the past.

You talking about from a business standpoint for the league?

The thing is, they're actually right. I'd take the line over Zeke, sure. But when I'm watching a game, I'm not paying attention to guard play (and i suspect most of the hipsters aren't either). When something cool happens, I naturally credit the guy with the ball in his hand. I'm fine with this. It's ok for some things to just be fun.

As a consumer I find the league to be better when high profile teams are good. Feel that way about all sports leagues.

Off topic a bit, but you can dig up some really old Usenet newsgroups on Google Groups from the 1980s/1990s (and some even from the 1970s). I found a post on there from 1979 for one of the newsgroups one time.

Here is a topic on Emmitt Smith's rushing title from a newsgroup thread in 1993:
