Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, subject to a work permit.

The 23-year-old forward will officially become a Reds player at the start of the January transfer window after agreeing personal terms and successfully completing a medical at the AXA Training Centre.

He will wear the number 18 shirt.

FSG has approached LFC with a very analytical approach, which led to success on the pitch; however, that approach won't necessarily work against state-owned clubs that can do half the analytic work and make expensive mistakes. At the time, FSG probably thought UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules would actually be enforced and work, but those have failed as well. I believe this is what led them to backing the Super League because it was provide them with a massive influx of cash. When that failed, I feel like FSG just feels like they're fighting an uphill battle against clubs that have budgets larger than many countries' GDP.

They bought LFC for £300 Million and the club is now worth almost £4 Billion. Not a bad return, eh?

Then John Henry must be idyllic minded because he made multiple mentions of FFP during the bidding process. One example from FourFourTwo: When FSG, then known as New England Sports Ventures, purchased Liverpool in 2010, principal owner John W. Henry did so on the understanding that Financial Fair Play regulations would mean that by being business savvy and with smart investment, they would be able to compete and put Liverpool back among Europe’s elite.
