Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I know I'm in the minority but I use and think it works well. I don't play online so lag is not an issue for me.
All in all keep it.Last edited by redsox4evur; 01-15-2015, 06:46 PM. -

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I voted to keep it, and genuinely feel that way, but shot forms need to be audited because some, (regardless of the shooters rating) are easier to time than others.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Surprised so many people want to get rid of it considering it's an option. If online is an issue, maybe have seperate lobbies like MLB has guess pitch on/off lobbies?
Don't like the idea of just removing things from the game. Options are good.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
That! Leave it as is but; improve it as it should, animation shouldn't get in the way. It should be legit.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
the shot meter is fine, lets just upgrade the shooting animations that don't resemble the life-like shot forms and base of players, have people learn the players shots and have players with quick releases have quick releases.Comment

Get rid of it. Base shots going in on shot % from that range in real NBA using Synergy data

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I could take or leave the meter itself. But I would like to see the "green" incorporated into real FG%. Sometimes when you shoot, you just know the shot is going in as soon as you let it go, and it would be nice to replicate that without needing the meter. Just the same, sometimes you just know you missed (and how--short, long, left, right, etc.), and that should be represented as well.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
If the meter is what is keeping certain players from getting excellent releases on hof sim default speed then get rid of it. If there is something other than that glitching the shots then keep it. Concept is good. Working better for a 70 rated shooter as opposed to 99 is not good. Thanks for the poll.Psn: Alabamarob

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
My humble suggestion would be to roll back to the system that was used in previous games or something to that effect.
The meter itself isn't the problem; but the imbalances having the A+ releases always going in and the bugs associated with it.
If you can make it so that every single jump shot + release combination imaginable has a perfect release point even on superstar and hall of fame, it really comes down to preference. As it stands if you have a player whose shot is glitched the effect on gameplay is huge compared to the old system where there was a larger window and having your shot be right on the mark wasn't as big a deal as it is now.
I realize there used to be complaints on wide open A+ shots being missed. That really came down to open vs. contested and the new system is a lot better dealing with that since you rarely get perfect releases when shooting contested.
Maybe a possible solution would be to de-emphasize the importance of timing a shot. Completely removing a timing aspect would probably remove some of the satisfaction of shooting.
With the free throw animations being so long, barring user mistakes you're now going to always be perfect or right next to it if you're paying attention to the meter. That in itself might not be a bad thing since it encourages trying out different teams as you're no longer punished on the line for not knowing your player's shots inside out. But it also allows bad shooters with hitches to be just as easy to get close to perfect as easy releases.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Keep it, but I would make the margin of error for good shooters in the league more lenient. Doesn't make sense when guys that shoot over .450 from the 3pt line in real life, go 1-5,0-6 on a regular basis in 2K. Maybe they can get a sizable larger window (blue meter) than others.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I say scrap it. The cheese is strong with this one. It was a good idea but the unintended result is someone just gotta find a cheesy quick shot and basically you get a sliver of an opening and it's an excellent shot and release. It's like Steph Curry on steroids taking that pill in the movie Limitless. I think shots that take into account shot quality waaaaay more than shot timing is the best route. I believe it was 2K8 that had this down pat. It really is a balancing act though with no easy answer.
At the end of the day, I want to make open and shots and miss contested shots most of the time with a decent shooter. Shot Timing on the other hand, as we've seen, can be manipulated easily just by getting a "money jump shot". So basically I think the emphasis should be huge on shot quality rather than shot timing. That's still giving the user "control" of the outcome because the onus still is on the user to find and earn quality looks -- just like in real basketball. And, it also means SMART and SIM players will be rewarded (as they should), because they are usually better than noobs at using all the tools in the game to achieve open and quality shots.Comment
