It's already an option so it's baffling how people are reacting to it. I think next years shot meter should be OFF by default....seems like there's a bunch of you guys that don't realize you can have that off....

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
If you have to have something for next year, make the shot feedback the default for all modes(doesnt show up for my park). The meter is just too arcadey for meKenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Even if you turn off the shot meter, the shooting system is still messed up. I personally like the old 2k system better. Shot release and quality of shot should be totally independent of each other. If you get excellent release in 2k14 and try to take a ridiculously contested shot your probably gonna miss it. In 2k15 if you get an excellent release in someones face your 98% of the time gonna make it. Thats a problem. It seems 2k rewards the offensive player a lot more than the defensive player. Especially on the lower difficulties which us online players are forced to play onComment

Please try to go deeper when you try to judge, i'm not directing this to you, it's for everyone to get a good understanding about what's really wrong and what not.
Shot meter and especially with big puntos "shot fatigue" are two best the greatest thing ever implemented to gameplay and ofcourse shooting.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Looking at the poll data, it looks like a bimodal distribution, where people pretty much like the shot meter or don't.
There are a couple of ways to interpret this. First, there may really be two distinct groups, where one seems to prefer the legacy shot system and one likes the current one. Or, the question may be too confounded with other shot issues from the user experience perspective, and the data is too noisy as a result. If the first interpretation is right, then in theory, just setting the defaults to the most popular option and allowing for user display and shot calculation customization (such as real %) should work. Those abilities are in place now.
Based on the comments, I'm guessing the second interpretation is more on point. I think a summary of the responses so far would show that players are definitely having issues with the shot system, but are different in where they believe the problem lies.
Some people think it's the meter and the calculation system behind it, as opposed to the old meter display and the old way of calculating shot success as in 2k14.
Other people think it's not the meter and calculation system so much as it is the integration of that system with shot animations, and their ability to faithfully represent player ratings in the game.
Beleuba, if this quick review of the data is right, then maybe it might be worth polling what you want to know a little tighter so that these possible issues can be teased out? Maybe ask how people would feel about the 2k15 shot calculation system and meter if any other shot success factors such as shot animations could be cleaned up?Last edited by LorenzoDC; 01-19-2015, 02:31 PM.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Like a few people said before, the shot meter is not the problem. The broken/glitched shot animations are the problem. I have played 2K since Iverson was on the cover and this is my least favorite one. Its just possible to shoot with these shooting animations. I turned off the shot meter and still miss wide open shots with good shooters because they have no perfect release. Extremely frustrating. Never mind 2k16, 2k15 still has 8-9 months on the market. Please patch the shots animations, almost 90% of the shots animations are broken. Only a few like Kobe, Wes Johnson, Ricky Rubio, and a few others have good shot animations.Comment

Enable the option of activating it or not. I believe it is the best option, as I would use it offline and not while playing online.http://www.anba2k.com/ - League for 30 spanish simheads

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
There are players i have taken over 500 shots with and never got a perfect releases yet (Melo, KD, Nick Young, Tim Hadaway, etc). The problem is the broken releases. Not the meter itself. The entire system is broken, only way to fix it is to either fix all the shots animations or go back to old system.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I think this would be cool as well:
- You do not see the fill in the shots, but ONLY in the first shot of the game with each player you would see the feedback of how you shot.
After that, you are in the dark.Last edited by lvnba; 01-19-2015, 02:53 PM.http://www.anba2k.com/ - League for 30 spanish simheads

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I don't hate the shot meter, just expand on the concept with the options in this poll. On/off, feedback/fill only, ability to completely turn it off and stuff.
But, on top of that, make it that a perfect release goes in*. Always. It is perfect. I know "even NBA players miss wide open shots" and all that jazz, I'm not complaining about that. If you're wide open and get a bad release, you miss that. But when it's perfect... it's perfect. NBA players hit their shots when their release is perfect.
*if this is not a thing already, I haven't missed perfects after patch #3. But I have missed up to 10 open - perfect shots before.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Overall, I like the meter. It's a nice feedback system for gauging shot release timing. And while shot quality should take precedent, I don't agree with taking shot timing out of the equation entirely. Shot timing is what makes you feel like you're part of the action. It makes it feel more like you're actually making the shot yourself. Without that, there's a bit of a disconnect with the on-court action ... or at least there is for me personally.
The only thing I'm not sure about is perfect releases going in almost every time aspect. I think I'd prefer that perfect releases be easier to get, but aren't guaranteed to go in. I realize that it can be frustrating to watch a perfect release miss; however, it fixes the problem of some players being better shooters than others (even though their ratings may be lower) simply because their shot is easier to time.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
I really like the shot meter as is. It's a good way to get a feel for new shots, especially at the free throw line. I also love the way shot timing window works this year and how it's reflected by the shot meter. It's a massive improvement over the past. I think it's sleek enough that it isn't an eye sore when left on.
I've kept it on the whole time, even when I've learned the shot timings and basically don't have to look at the shot meter; I've never thought "man that shot meter is just taking away from the visuals.
Tweak and improve if you see fit but don't go in a drastic new direction with it. It's a solid concept.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
The shot meter was a nice addition to the 2k franchise. I would say that it should correlate more with the players actual skill. I think there were too many players that shot better than their real ability. I also think that there have been way too many open jumpers missed by capable players where as I've had many contested shots made. Just need to see more consistency.Comment

Re: 2K16 Shot Meter
Before we worry about the shot meters we first have to address why it is almost possible to get perfect releases with some players. It's either the shooting system or the shooting animations. Either way its ruining the game because in this system it is almost impossible to shoot with someone without a perfect release (which is 85% of the roster)Comment
