The difference from the perfect release should be more visible. If I release right in the middle, it should be perfect. Right now you can release in the middle and it can show slighty early/late. Make it more visible how far off you've been from the middle

I hate the feeling of looking down my feet to shoot but if you can make the meter where could watch my animation form that would be better

          Re: 2K16 Shot Meter

i really like the shot meter - i don't know why anyone would have a problem with it. I like how it gives you a VISUAL look at EXACTLY just how late or early your release is, rather than just a vague "slightly early" or "slightly late". i like being able to see just how off my release was. i see no reason to get rid of the shot meter. the more feedback the better - and the shot meter gives you more specific feedback than anything else regarding your timing.

in terms of how EVERY perfectly-released shot goes in even when contested...i'm not sure i agree with that. good defense should be able cause a miss on a perfect release, but it seems like in 2k15 that no amount of defense can make a perfectly-released shot miss. that's the only part of the shot meter that i disagree with.

i WOULD however like to keep in the game the way that a perfect release on a WIDE OPEN shot always goes in. this rewards good shot selection and really makes you feel great when get that rare perfect combo of a wide open shot AND a perfect release.

i would actually like even MORE shot feedback regarding shot quality in 2k16. i think the "shot grade" system is too vague right now. i think there should be separate grades for "shot selection" and "release timing". so every time you take a shot, 2 grades would pop up…one referring to how good your release timing was, and another grade referring to the quality of the shot (openness and within the range of the player), and then maybe a third grade that combines the 2 into an overall grade.

i would also like some feedback regarding how contested the shot was. like if you take a shot and the defender is near, a message could pop up saying "slightly contested", or if you're wide open the message would say "wide open". i just like getting feedback on these things to really see specifically what kind of shot quality i'm getting.

i think we should have the OPTION to turn it on or off.

personally i hate it, i don't watch the jumpshots anymore and just watch the meter, and my shooting is actually worse because of it. to me its an eyesore and a distraction.

in previous 2k's i'd get the timing down from observing the rhythm of the shot animation, but in 2k15 i dont have any rhythm for anyone's shot, i just try to time the release of the stick with the meter and my anticipation of trying to line it up throws off the shot for me. idk maybe make it more transparent and not stand out so much, or the option to adjust transparency of it from on to off.

You already have the option to turn it off.

More importantly if we are going towards the Shot Meter Route, the devs/producers should take a look at the game speed and how it affects shot timing on the more difficult levels in the game, SS, HOF.

                  Re: 2K16 Shot Meter

Either the shot meter is broken or most of the releases are broken. I'm not sure which, but I think it's the releases. For example with my MyPlayer I used Kevin Durant's on the Rec Center for months, never once got a perfect release. I was still good with it, still shooting probably 40-50% from 3 mainly because I get a lot of wide open corner 3's, but not a single perfect release 3 pointer since the game came out.

I changed to Iguadala, now If I time my open shots right I can pretty much get a perfect every time. Same thing applies to the actual NBA players. When they game came out I absolutely could not miss with Trevor Ariza. Then they changed his shot to something that looks more like his real life jumper, completely and totally broken. Can't get perfect releases, and more often than not it's a brick.

There is a long list of broken shots. Release 17 is probably the best example of this. Put that shot on and go play the Rec Center, see if you can shoot even 20% on 3's. Doesn't matter if you have a maxed out jumper, you're going to be throwing up bricks.

                    Re: 2K16 Shot Meter

I voted for other; I believe there should be an indication above the player's head showing where his individual perfect release point is. The goal for users is to match the shot release to the player's PERFECT release point, this is much more natural. People IRL don't shoot staring at the ground.

This works better because with the shot meter sometimes it gets obsurred in crowded space (since the meter is on the floor ... which has nothing to do with good shot Defense). If there's an indication of perfect release point above the head then a shot contest can actually make a real physical difference.

i don't know why anyone would be AGAINST the shot meter. if you don't like it, turn it off in the options, but there's no reason to completely remove it from the game. why wouldn't you want MORE feedback on your shot timing, or at least the option to have it? are people opposed to the shot meter visually, or more opposed to the fact that it allows you to make all perfectly-released shots? if it's the latter, then don't throw the baby out with the bathwater - keep the meter as an option for feedback on shot timing, but just remove the "all perfect releases go in" rule.

I agree with 100% of what you are saying. Jump shot (not Release )17 is glitched because I know that is Kyle Korver's shot

                        Beluba,

This is exactly my point. He is saying the same thing I am saying. I feel if I was a myCareer player I would be able to cheese the release because I would only have to memorize only one release on SS or HOF sim. This is why I don't know if 99% success is ok for myCareer, but on 5 on 5 games it is hard to really cheese it because you have at least 5-6 shooters if not more on the team you would use and get right all slightly different release.

There should be a little more leeway in getting a good release, but contested shots should shrink the timing window more than they do.
