Official Green Bay Packers Thread

I thought I would start this. Looks like they will have pretty much the same team back, with a new defensive formation and coordinator

Offensively they should be better with A-Rod having more experience we should be able to open it up a little more. A young team last year that lost a lot of close games is a year older with more experience.

Obviously the jury is out on the defensive situation. I like the reasoning behind going to the 3-4. Just don't think we have the personel in place to pull it off right now.

Re: Official 2009-10 Green Bay Packers Thread

I still don't think that we HAD to switch to a 3-4 right away considering that it was the depth at key positions and not the scheme that hurt us in s lot of games(excluding the Saints game)

You would also think that with us switching to a new Defense, we would be a little more active in FA than usual but hey.....not really surprised anymore.

Thoughts on who we should draft with the 9th pick though, fellas?

Re: Official 2009-10 Green Bay Packers Thread

I agree it wasn't the scheme.

I think Mabin if he is there.

I think Thompson does a great job drafting players that fit in in the city and want to stay there. The cb Jenkins from the OSU is someone I have heard nothing but great things about as a person with great interviews. He would be a great fit in the community and on the team.

I just got done looking at the past drafts on ESPN by year. You can really see where the Wolf years ended and then when Thompsons began. (You can see I intentionally didn't name the man in the middle.) The number of picks and quality of players late in the draft has been very impressive. Thompson's drafts are looking similar to Wolf's.

I'll give Mike Sherman his due because he did get us a couple of stud players while he was here. But at the sametime, he's made a lot of moves that made me question how he even became GM.

A couple of stud players but no depth what-so-ever. He won games as a coach, but the teams talent level continued to drop as he was GM.

I agree and that's one of the few things I like about Thompson. He's good at adding depth at key positions, although he did sort of neglect it last yeae.

I wish the packers could get some good star players, but not big mouths
