Madden 2010 News Post

Hindsight is 20/20. Last April, a re-retired Brett Favre seemed like a good cover athlete choice for Madden 2009. The curse would be broken, or so EA thought. After a month of speculation, Brett Favre returned to play for the New York Jets. To describe it as a lackluster return would be an understatement.

Favre had 22 touchdowns and 22 interceptions, but his play down the stretch cost the Jets a few winnable games and the Jets were toast. All the while, the Dolphins and former Jets QB Chad Pennington were busy winning the AFC East. The Jets were ruined, Brett Favre’s career had a lame punctuation, and the Madden Curse had struck again.

Another one bites the dust.

The Team Photo of the 0-16 Detroit Lions should be the new cover

Out of the choices that they've given us, if they really follow the Fight For Every Yard slogan, I still say it should be Brandon Jacobs or AD.

I have money on Peterson getting injured and never being the same after appearing on the cover.

Going to be either Polumalu or Fitz

I think it's Adrian Peterson. Two screenshots in the tech blog were taken at the Metrodome (one with a camera man, and one with A.P.). All other screens thus far have been with the Steelers and Cardinals, with the exception of one of Matt Hasselbeck.

Would it kill them to put some linemen on the friggin' cover?

That's not gonna sell copies, my man.

Mom takes her son to get a new game:

"Look, Timmy. This one has that guy from the Packers on the front. That one has some fat guy. Let's get the one with the Packer guy on the front."

You laugh, because, on these boards, it seems so outrageous to think that it would happen. But it happens more often than you think.

How does a kid pick out which movie he wants to rent? Based on what's on the cover.

Yes. It would in the most literal sense of the phrase, "Kill Them".

Am I to believe that sales of Madden would drop if the cover had the Cardinals D-line clashing with the Steeler O ?

I don't think the average gaming fan is that fickle.

dont want it to be jacobs cause i don't want him hurt or to have a bad year.

Kurt Warner!

Not, Fitz or Big Ben though.

At GameStop, they already have the game out on the shelves (For pre-order subscriptions) and the cover athlete is blacked out but it clearly looks like a QB. It looks more like Matt Ryan (Compared to Big Ben) but one would think Big Ben would get it of the QB's.

I can't be certain because I haven't seen every "pre-cover" but I believe every sillouette is one of a QB. It could easily change by release date.

No love for Santonio Holmes?

Whats with all this curse b.s, Ray Lewis is a cover guy.... I vote John Madden since its his retirement year and the game is named after him.

I say that EA is going to go back to classic, and put John Madden back on the cover.

Call it 'Old School' but I say it wouldn't hurt too much if the new Madden 2010 cover featured -JOHN MADDEN- as a Special Celebratory Cover in honor of the man's retirement from Broadcasting. What rule or contract stipulation says they cannot feature John Madden along with the Top Ten cover candidates in highlight action shots... including the first Offensive and Defensive Linemen from last year.

After all it was John Madden's colorful and unique commentary over the years that caused so many thousands of new fans to understand and enjoy NFL Football with increased knowledge of how critically important and necessary it is in the NFL to have the precision-skilled, quick-burst, smash-powerful, runaway-speedy, and the fat guys ALL Working together to win Championships...! That or multiple commemerative Top Rated players from last season - - and if they all get injured next season, then The Madden Curse will undoubtedly be confirmed or broken once and for all.
