MLB 13 The Show News Post

EXCLUSIVE! In MLB® 13 The Show™, your efforts within any mode, and any platform, will earn you XP towards your Universal Profile. All XP is tallied by where you’ve earned it. The more XP you earn, the higher your profile level. Your Profile will give other gamers a snapshot of the type of player you are by breaking down where you spend your time, as well as how seasoned you are in general. At intervals throughout the game, you’ll get subtle notifications about how much XP you are earning. Once you get back to the Front End, you can check your profile to see how much you earned in the entire session.

As seen below, your current profile level plus any progress made towards the next level, is displayed in the bottom left corner of the Front End. You can bring up your profile screen by pressing Select to navigate the Hotbar and choosing the Profile icon.

Your MLB® 13 The Show™ profile displays a breakdown of all your earned XP, online stats from past and present, recent play history, and current Ratings in competitive online play. All of which are accumulated from your time with the PS3 and VITA versions of the game. Your profile will immediately give other users a sense of the type of player you are.

The Universal Profile additions in MLB® 13 are just a small first step towards much bigger plans in the years to come. We want to create a universal sense of progression for users regardless of their platform or play style, and this year’s efforts are just the beginning of this evolution.

I like how Sony removed the "MLB The Show" logo from the in between inning score overlay. It looks so much more professional and sleek now

Now they have me wondering if they also removed it from the top scorebug too?

'All the signs are there for a "MLB Today" type mode:

1. No more MLB 2K, so the Show can now "steal" some of their innovations
2. MLB.com affiliation
3. New stat tracking company (Sportvision??? )

The only thing that worries me is that daily roster updates would be required and SCEA has a hard enough time updating weekly...

Sportsvision is being used in MLB 13 The Show?

Well they basically stopped doing their own CAPs, and when they did do them they weren't up to snuff compared to previous years. There's also the fact that they have to wait for approval from the MLBPA to add players to the game, and if there are any more Will Middlebrooks-type scenarios, then it defeats the whole purpose of a live season mode.

That's what I'm hoping...

MLBPA approval is not up to SCEA though

Exactly, which is why I said they have a hard enough time as is. If they have to sit around and wait for the MLBPA's approval then its gonna be troublesome for various reasons...

I would say HO is right in this regard...

If there is a MLB Today type mode, I don't think that a call up that plays before approval, will be in the game or lineup. They'd have to use a suitable sub.
It's out of SCEA's hands.

Might get a ps3 soon, so for sure keeping my eye on this game!
Have had a 360 for the past 4 years and have been quietly jealous the past couple years, but thinking about getting this!

I like how it tracks stats. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. It won't make those long franchises feel so bad if you are constantly getting stats for it.

I am also someone who has been hoping for a "create a team" feature.

But we are getting "Post Season Mode" and maybe a "MLB Today" type mode "The Show Live" so for me these 2 new modes will make the wait for "Create a team" feature a lot less painfull

"Create a team" feature where you can select any MLB Player from any team with options to pick your city, Stadium, team name, logo, colors and be able to save your team and then use your team against any of the MLB teams in exhibition games and online games would fantactic too!

Maybe we will get this mode in MLB 14 The Show if enough gamers request it.

EDIT: Wait, I see how there are online statistics for The Show '11 and '12. Will franchise XP/statistics be included from those years as well?
My question also. I don't play online - will offline Franchise play be tracked too?

Yes it looks like Franchise Mode will count toward XP.. just read..

"EXCLUSIVE! In MLB® 13 The Show™, your efforts within any mode, and any platform, will earn you XP towards your Universal Profile. All XP is tallied by where you’ve earned it"

.. But the XP will be tallied in a Franchise Mode stat, it won't intertwine the two
