Mariner Bats Go Quiet as Astros Even Series

Seattle - One night after the Mariners erupted for eleven runs they seemed to forget their bats Saturday at T-Mobile Park. Seattle mustered just two hits the entire game, albeit both solo home runs, including the first major league home run for young phenom Julio Rodriguez. That wasn't enough however to keep up with the Astros as Seattle fell 5-2. The two teams will be back at T-Mobile for the rubber match tomorrow. It will be Robbie Ray (3-0, 1.88 ERA) taking on Jake Odorizzi (1-1, 5.73 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Bullpen Falters Late as Mariners Drop First Series of Season

Yordan Alvarez celebrates knocking in the game tying run in the ninth inning

Seattle - The Houston Astros rallied late to erase a 5-1 deficit and defeat the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Sunday afternoon. Starter Robbie Ray tried to pitch through a blister on his throwing finger, but couldn't go back in after the first inning which left the Mariners bullpen to carry the load in this one. They did a fine job for the most part, as Seattle built a 5-1 lead, and appeared to be on their way to another series win, but Houston had other plans as they rallied late against closer Paul Sewald, who blew his first save of the season, and Houston was able to take the lead in the 10th, and close it out. It was also the first time this season the Mariners lost back to back games, as they dropped to 11-5, but still maintain a two game lead in the AL West Standings. The bullpen will get a very much needed day off before the homestand continues on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. It will be Logan Gilbert (1-1, 1.35 ERA) headed to the mound to take on Jon Gray (1-2, 5.19 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Weekend Update

We are now 10% of the way into the season for most teams in the league, and some races are starting to take shape for how we think they'll pan out in the summer. The National League looks top heavy already with the Dodgers, Brewers, and the surprising Marlins starting to distance themselves in their divisions, while the AL has much more parity, and could see multiple races stretch well into September.

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Frustration Boils Over as M's Drop Third Straight

Anthony Muñoz gives up the go-ahead single to Nathaniel Lowe.

Seattle - Come the eighth inning Scott Servais had seen enough. After watching his team give up the lead the inning before Diego Castillo threw a pitch right on the inner half of the plate to strike out Willie Calhoun looking, except home plate umpire Dave Lawrence just stood up and sent Calhoun to first base, driving in another run that would end up being the difference in a 5-4 game. Servais stormed out of the dugout, and gave Lawrence every piece of his mind before returning to the clubhouse after being ejected. It's the first bit of adversity these Mariners have faced this season after a red hot start. Being the young team Seattle is, it will be critical how they handle this moving forward if they want to take the leap everyone thinks they can this year. It'll start tomorrow when Seattle sends Marco Gonzales (1-1, 8.04 ERA) to the mound to face Taylor Hearn (1-0, 6.43 ERA).

Bullpen Again Falls Apart as Mariners Go Back to Drawing Board

Texas erupted in extra innings to secure the win.

Seattle - The Mariners bullpen once again could not hold onto a late lead, and Scott Servais said the club will be looking at making some changes in the backend of the staff after their fourth straight defeat, an 8-5 loss in extra innings to the Texas Rangers. Paul Sewald blew his second consecutive save after starting the season 8 for 8, and Sergio Romo was once again shelled in his appearance late in this one. It's all led to the team looking at making some roster moves and role changes before their game tomorrow. That matchup will feature Chris Flexen (2-1, 3.66 ERA) heading to the mound to take on Martin Pérez (1-1, 2.63 ERA) as the Mariners try to snap this four game skid.

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Mariners Skid Hits Five as Rangers Get Sweep

Seattle - The Mariners losing streak hit five games on Thursday afternoon, as the bats could get nothing going, and they succumbed to an easy 7-1 win by the Texas Rangers. Texas hit two long balls, and stole four bases as the Mariners bullpen continued their struggles. Paul Sewald was once again battered by the Texas lineup, after learning before the game that his closer role would be given to Diego Castillo moving forward. Also before the game the team designated veteran reliever Sergio Romo for assignment, as they attempt to shake things up on the pitching staff. Justus Sheffield was called up from Triple-A Tacoma to take his spot on the roster. Seattle will look to turn a new page tomorrow as they welcome in the Kansas City Royals for a three game series to close out the home stand. It will be Matt Brash (1-1, 3.52 ERA) taking the mound against Kris Bubic (1-2, 2.21 ERA).
