Mariners Make it Five Straight

Julio Rodriguez robs Jose Altuve of extra bases

Houston - Luis Torrens crushed a three run home run to lead the offense, and Chris Flexen turned in a solid five inning effort as the Mariners increased their winning streak to five games with a 7-2 win over the Astros. After falling behind in the first inning the Mariners struck back in the second with some clutch hits from Cal Raleigh, and Abraham Toro. Then it was Torrens who delivered the big time blow with a three run shot in the third that hit the foul pole just above the wall. After Jose Altuve cut it to 6-2 with a solo shot in the sixth inning the Mariner bullpen slammed the door on Houston to get the win. The two teams will be back at Minute Maid Park tomorrow. It will be Matt Brash (3-1, 1.88 ERA) facing off against Jake Odorizzi (3-1, 4.26 ERA).

Mariners Shut Out Astros to Make it Six Straight

Houston - Rookie Matt Brash turned in another superb effort for the Mariners throwing six and a third of shut out baseball, and the bullpen came in to clean up the rest as the Mariners shut out the Astros to earn a 3-0 win. The win was the sixth straight for Seattle, and through 30 games the Mariners have the best record in the American League at 21-9. Time will tell if it can hold up through the season, but the fans in Seattle have to love the first month of baseball turned in by these Mariners. Seattle will look for the sweep tomorrow with a battle of aces on the mound. It will be Robbie Ray (4-0, 1.64 ERA) facing Justin Verlander (1-3, 2.52 ERA).

Mariners Get Sweep of Astros

Houston - Minute Maid Park had been a house of horrors for years for the Seattle Mariners, but even though we're in the first week of May. It felt like a changing of the guard in the AL West. Robbie Ray went six innings to best Justin Verlander, and the Mariners got a three game sweep of the Houston Astros with a 4-2 win. The win puts Seattle seven games clear of Houston in the standings and gives them an AL best 22-9 mark as they head home for a seven game home stand. They'll start with a four game series against the Tampa Bay Rays with Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.48 ERA) taking the mound against Shane McClanahan (3-1, 3.03 ERA).

Mariners Win Streak Halted at Seven

Eugenio Suárez strikes out to end the game

Seattle - The Mariners ran out of magic on Thursday night. Despite a late ninth inning rally against the Tampa Bay Rays closer Andrew Kittredge, Seattle ended up one run short falling to the Rays 4-3, and ending their seven game winning streak. The Mariners offense was stagnant outside of Mitch Haniger. Who drove in all three of Seattle's runs including his ninth home run of the season. Seattle will look to start a new streak tomorrow when they send Marco Gonzales (2-1, 5.51 ERA) to the mound to face Ryan Yarbrough (3-0, 1.62 ERA).

Mariners Rally to Defeat Rays

Seattle - The Seattle Mariners got clutch hits from Ty France and Mitch Haniger and despite four Tampa Bay home runs they were able to get the victory on Friday night 7-6. Tampa stormed out to a 4-0 lead early battering Marco Gonzales with solo shots, but the Mariners rallied to tie things up before Marco would relinquish the lead again, but in the seventh the Mariners pushed across three runs that broke the tie, and gave them their 23rd victory on the year. The teams are back at it for the third game tomorrow with Chris Flexen (3-2, 3.16 ERA) taking the mound to face Drew Rasmussen (2-2, 6.44 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Mariners Ride Flexen's Strong Start to Victory

Seattle - Chris Flexen went seven strong innings striking out eight while allowing just one run, and Kyle Lewis went yard for the second night in a row as the Mariners took down the Rays 4-1. Lewis seems to be finding a groove after returning to the lineup after almost a year off with a knee injury. It's making some lineup decisions tough for manager Scott Servais who now has five strong OF on his roster. It's a good problem to have, but juggling the AB's and playing time will be something to keep an eye on as the season wears on. Seattle will try and take the series win tomorrow when AL ERA leader Matt Brash (4-1, 1.54 ERA) takes the mound to face Josh Fleming (2-2, 2.45 ERA).
