Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
The consistency with this thread is phenomenal! I'm pretty jealous haha. I've tried posting my legacies over the years but never made it a past a few seasons.
Good luck as you go into the conference tournament!

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
UC RIVERSIDE OUSTED BY PACIFIC IN STUNNING UPSET UC Davis with Blackgrove's last second shot sends UC Irvine packing PAC d. UCR, 73-63 Mar. 8, Anaheim CA - Pacific, which was toting an unenviable 1-9 record before the conference started, completed a big turnaround with a monumental 73-63 upset of UC Riverside at the Big West Tournament First Round. It was a stunning upset win for first-year coach Cliff Turiaf, who only got the job after the Highlanders coach Raymond Rose turned down all offers to move out of Riverside. Graduating senior Byron McLemore led an awe-inspiring performance lifting the embattled Tigers to their first victory against the Highlanders this season. The Tigers, which only 4 days ago were manhandled by the Highlanders in the season finale, came into this game with a purpose that is to dominate the middle. Coach Raymond Rose said before the season started that this would perhaps be the Highlanders’ toughest season. His reason was that the team didn’t have a seasoned and reliable center to man the paint. The Highlanders were routed at the paint, 10-26, and overpowered at the boards, 27-34. Down by a slim 29-31 at halftime, the Tigers took the lead at the midway point in the second half, with a short lay in by McLemore. Rookie Patrick Zamora would then spearhead a breakaway 12-2 run to extend the advantage to 11-0 points, 58-48 with a little over 4 minutes to go. It was still a 10-point lead going into the final 3:43 until Jameel Alexander came into life. The sophomore Alexander pumped in a jumper then a triple for the Highlanders to cut the lead to only 5 points at 56-61. After Cedric Elsey scored from the baseline Alexander again ran up two successive jumpers to cut the lead to 3, 60-63, time down to 1:31. McLemore would reply back and after a Highlander miss, Jose Fernandez banked a midrange dagger right in the hearts of the Highlanders. McLemore, saving his best game for last top scored with 23 points, in addition to 8 rebounds, earning him Player of the Game honors. Elsey and Fernandez, who grabbed a game high 9 boards, had 11 apiece while Zamora added 10. Alexander led the Highlanders with 18 while Mark Locklier, playing in his last collegiate game, and Frank Derozan chipped in 13 and 12 respectively. The ever reliable Highlanders shot a miserable 39% against the Pacific defense, its forward starters were a dismal combine of 6 point and 10 rebounds. UCD d. UCI, 73-63 Mar. 8, Anaheim CA - Just days after UC Davis stunned UC Irvine in the season closure, the Aggies came up again this time a heart-breaking last second shot by Phil Blackgrove eliminating the Anteaters, 56-55, out the Big West Tournament. The Aggies are now aiming the same finish they had when they won the Tournament Finals in 2014 against the Cal State Northridge Matadors. The Aggies will go up against the Pacific Tigers tomorrow for the first Big West Tournament Finals slot. The Aggies held a slim 26-24 at the half but the Anteaters tied the count at 45-all then took the lead finally at 48-45 with 5 minutes remaining in the game. It was close from there as both teams were only separated at most by 3 points, the last time at 55-52 with time down to 46.8 seconds. Rookie sensation Oumar N’diaye made it very close with a mighty slam, 55-54, with 40 ticks left. The Anteaters used most of their time setting up their best player Butch Sherman. However, Sherman missed and while the Aggies scampered for one last shot Andrew Grundy threw the ball to a sliding Phil Blackgrove off a N’diayre screen some 8 feet from the basket for the win. N’diaye had another scintillating performance scoring a double-double 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Aggies to be the hands-down choice as Player of the Game. Senior Leon Drayton came off the becnh and chipped in 12 while Ron Ramelli and Grundy added 11 and 9 respectively. Blackgrove, who was beset with early foul troubles, had 4. Sherman, the only Anteater in double-figures, closed his collegiate career with a a game high 18 points.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE MARCHES ON, ROUTS LONG BEACH STATE Cal State Fullerton earns Matadors challenge with a 74-65 win over Cal Poly CSUN d. LBSU, 94-73 Mar. 8, Anaheim CA - Cal State Northridge stamped itself as heavy favorites for the Tournament Championship with a 94-73 rout of Long Beach State stretching its unbeaten streak to 14 games. The Matadors will match up with the Cal State Fullerton Titans, a team they have beaten twice during the regular season. Coach Bobby Braswell pointed out two things before the game, rebounds and Jeremy McGrath and the Matadors knew what to do. The 49ers were manhandled at the boards, 28-43, while McGrath was 3 of 12 from the field for a frustrating 10 points. Emeka Barrett took the Player of the Game honors top scoring with 21 points for the Matadors. Tarick Hoskin chipped in with 18 points on 54 triples while Bobby Rios came off the bench to add 12. Sam Spencer started for the 49ers and scored a team high 18 points. Seniors bade their farewell with Rafael Morales contributing 15, Goran Vojinovic a double-double 10 markers and 12 boards and point guard Amadou Lamonte with 10. CSF d. CP, 74-65 Mar. 8, Anaheim CA - Cal State Fullerton booked a seat at the Tournament Final Four with an impressive victory over Cal Poly, 74-65. The Titans overcame a 30-34 halftime deficit, took the lead at the 15-minute mark in the second half on 2 free throws by Reggie Miller then banked on the Mustangs’ early bonus penalty at the 10th minute to pull away the win. Miller finished with a team high 18 points for the Titans to earn the Player of the Game award. All the Titans starters were in double-figures with conference scoring champion Jerrold Paulsen chipping in 12, freshman Evgueni Sokolov adding another double-double 10 points and a prodigious 18 rebounds while leading an overpowering 45-27 drubbing at the boards. Evan Prato and Vytaustas Gedminas contributed 10 apiece. Rookie playmaker Jai Johnson led the Mustangs with 18 points on 5 triples, while Warren Lopez ended his illustrious college career with an all-around performance of 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Adam Scheer and Byron Nelson added 12 and 10 respectively.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
PACIFIC BARGES INTO THE FINALS WITH A TOUGH 60-53 WIN OVER UC DAVIS McLemore and Fernandez will be key for tomorrow's finals Mar. 9, Anaheim CA - Pacific barges into the Big West Tournament Finals with a tough 60-53 win over UC Davis. The last time the Tigers were in the Finals was in 2011 when they lost to the UC Riverside Highlanders. In 2008 the Tigers won the Regular Season Championship but failed to reach the tournament finals. But for Coach Cliff Turiaf, he becomes the first ever NCAA basketball coach to reach a tournament final in only his first year. With the lead changing hands 11 times, the game was highly defensive with both teams finishing below 40%. The Aggies held a slim 27-26 at the half and the Aggies stretched it further to 4 points at 30-26, at that point the biggest lead in the match. The Aggies would held on until the final 4:06 when Jose Fernandez connected on back-to-back jumpers to hand the Tigers the lead. It was a pendulum affair from thereon. After Phil Blackgrove sank a trifecta to tie the count for the last time at 48-all, Byron McLemore again playing inspired basketball scored twice, including one from afar, to stretch it to 4 but a goal tending call in the next play pushed the Aggies within striking distance again, 52-50, time down to 1:30. After a series of misses by both teams, Fernandez would send the same dagger that tore the hearts of the Highlanders at almost the same spot for a 54-50 advantage with 42 ticks left. A three-point shot miss by Andrew Grundy, who was nursing a sore knee, sent the Aggies on a fouling spree to kill the clock but not the Tigers. Fernandez was the game’s high point man and his double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds earned him the Player of the Game award. McLemore also was on double-double 13 and 14. Blackgrove was the only Aggie in double figures with 10. Oumar N’diaye was a point away for a double-double with 9 points and a game high 14 rebounds. The tandem of senior McLemore and junior Fernandez has been the big difference in the Tigers' run in the playoff. Together they had a combined 33.5 points and 21.5 rebounds in 2 games. The power duo is the Tigers' driving force and remain the key in tomorrow's finals unless Patrick Zamora, Pacific's main scorer, shakes off his freshman jitters.
