Kukoc scores 29 to lift Bulls to 7th straight win

LOS ANGELES -- Frustrating by his lackluster play so far this season, Toni Kukoc decided the answer was to be more aggressive on offense.

Kukoc scored 29 points off the Bulls bench helping Chicago get a hard fought 109-102 over the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday.

"I was getting good looks on jump shots, but they weren't falling," Kukoc said. "Every one I took felt like it was going in -- and it kept going in and out. But I wanted to still be aggressive and make plays for the team. We were able to exploit them on the pick-and-roll, and I was able to make a few shots. So we just kept milking it."

Malik Sealy scored a team high 23 points of the Clippers but shot just 9 of 34 in the process. Brian Williams was able to hurt the Bulls inside scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

"Coach told us they play hard and they execute well. They played a solid game defensively and they had guys all over the place," Sealy said.

Los Angeles was able to hang with the Bulls all game and were down just two points with 4:30 left in the game.

At that point Michael Jordan stepped forward to take control capping off the game with a 6 point run of his own capped off by a signature dunk.

When the final horn sounded Jordan had a full stat line of 29 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Ran Harper joined Kukoc by having his highest output of the season with 16 points.

The Bulls will be back in action tomorrow night as their road trip continues on the Portland for a meeting with the Blazers. Jordan has terrorized both the Trail Blazers players and fans since the organization opted to pass over MJ in favor of Sam Bowie in the 1984 draft.

Re: Bull Run: A Season with the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls(NBA 2k13)

Jordan's 30 helps Bulls edge Blazers

PORTLAND -- Having hit the three pointer that brought his team to within two points of the Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers guard Rod Strickland had a shot to send the game into overtime.

After easily beating Ron Harper, Strickland took the contact and put up a 5 footer that rimmed out just past the grasp of fellow Blazer Clifford Robinson who attempted a follow slam. Harper secured the rebound a the Bulls 91-89 win.

Trailing by 12 at halftime Portland outscored the Bulls 32-22 in the third quarter to get back in the game.

With 3:24 left the game Portland took their first and only lead 85-83.

Bulls center Luc Longley would prove to be an unexpected hero, scoring on consecutive possessions to put the Bulls back ahead.

From there it was Jordan time, a dunk and a baseline jumper after faking out Aaron McKie provided the Chicago with just enough to escape with the two point win.

Jordan finished with a game high 30 points (20 in the second half) and added 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.

"It was good test for us," Jordan said, "losing the lead late, then coming back for the win."

Strickland and Robinson led the Blazers with 18 points apiece, McKie finished with 17.

"I have to make those shots down late in the game," said an apologetic Strickland afterwards.

The Bulls are likely to face another tough road test as they travel to Houston to face Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, and the defending champion Houston Rockets.
