The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

Ok, thanks for all who followed my previous career-but I realized there were some pretty big limitations with the playbooks I had. I've come up with a good slider set for early in my career, 2 new custom playbooks-I'm ready to go!

Coach Michael Smith
Commander
Skills-Team chemistry 3, Playcall 3, Strategy 3, Performance 3.
Special Skills-Ambition, Charm.

Offensive Playbook-TEXAS-Combined Michigan Spread and Texas Tech, some others.

Defensive Playbook-RYAN-base Ryan 4-6, 3-4, 4-3, 3-3-5, 4-2-5, Raider Rover, some others.

Position Philosophies-All Balanced

Health Philosophies-All Moderate

Sliders-my own set. 40/30 defensive awareness(CPU lower), will adjust as needed through career.

House Rules-none, but some guidelines. I will try and balance special skills and skills as best as i can, keeping in mind a lot of coaches will be looking to buy as many special skills as they can from the start.

GM-will look to get advanced special skills last

2008 Draft-Round 1

I wonder at what point the CPU becomes aware of the players that will be in the 2009 Draft. It looks like it might be as far back as 2008 FA. There were a lot of teams trade up to get CBs and TEs in this draft. It looks like I might get Zazzali again, and there are very few CBs or TEs in that draft. I have to tip my hat to Buffalo, who got 2 starters at CB without giving up a 1st.

As for me, I made the most of the Saints desire to get a TE. I traded my 1-18 and Owen Daniels to the Saints for the 1-10 pick, where I got the chance to draft Keith Rivers.

Trade-Texans trade 1-18 and TE Owen Daniels to the Saints for the 1-10 pick.

I'll list the trades first, then my picks. I wasn't going to draft Woodson since I had Johnson, but my GM kept insisting on it.

Falcons trade 4-100 to Texans for ROLB Morlon Greenwood and 7 (208)

Texans trade 5-146 to Ravens for 6-167 and 7-200

Jets trade 6-165 to Texans for LG Kasey Stoddard

2008 Preseason

It's not going to help when you have serious injuries to two of your starting offensive linemen in preseason. I made the best of it though, going 2-2 in preseason.

Preseason Game 1-Texans 33, Broncos 10

Rice 79 rush yds, Doucet 84 rec yds
Rivers 3 sacks, Campbell 2 sacks

Preseason Game 2-Saints 24, Texans 17

Rice 60 rush yds
Ryans 2 sacks, Rivers INT

CU-HC-Regular Season Seminar, OC-Team Chem 2, DC-Team Chem 2

Injury-RG Ben Noll-broken wrist-5-8 weeks-so much for that goal

Injury-RT Eric Winston-broken arm-3-5 weeks

Preseason Game 3-Texans 27, Cowboys 3

Ryans 2 sacks, Johnson INT

CU-QBC-Int Dev QB 2, LBC-Perf 2, DBC-Lrn Dev DB 2

Preseason Game 4- Bucs 16, Texans 3

Rivers sack

CU-OC-Playcall 2, DC-Strategy 2, OLC-Team Chem 2

Preseason Promise-Win at Least 3 Games(tough division)

Season Goals

Beat Titans in Week 3
Win 3/4 games
Beat Jaguars on MNF in Week 13
Re-sign CB Dunta Robinson
Win Defensive Rookie of the Year
Hire a New GM
Hire a New College Coach
Have 80+ Approval
