Re: Pistol Power- The Coaching Career of Zarek Stryker

I'm thinking it may be time to can this career. As much as I love it, I should not be 11-0, especially in the first year of a career and in the AFC South, where I play the Jags, Texans, and Colts twice a year. I mean hell, I beat the Colts 10-9, a game in which they didn't get a single touchdown. That just doesn't happen in this game, especially in the first year. I may keep this going, however, for the fun of it, and this will be just a career I play when I want to win. It's just not as much fun winning every game.

I am going to start a new career, and this time I have a slider set that will really test my skills and make me think about everything I do. Hopefully that will make the game more enjoyable, and keep the new career going for a while. I'm also thinking of making it the coaching career of Pete Carroll, and taking over the Seahawks just like he did in real life. Or something similar. I'm not sure yet.

Alright, getting back into the thick of things here. To start with, the next few posts will be team updates on my team, showing player statistics and everything, along with updates for the Raiders (as requested by Aurabolt127) and the Lions (simply because I grew up in Detroit, and still think of them as my hometown team). So we'll start with the Raiders. Here is their updated statistics:

Re: Pistol Power- The Coaching Career of Zarek Stryker

BREAKING NEWS
RUSSELL TO START AGAINST THE LIONS

Nashville, TN: Titans head coach Zarek Stryker held a press conference after practice Thursday and announced that quarterback Vince Young was not going to be available for the Thanksgiving day game against the Detroit Lions. Young was noticeably absent from the Titans practice facility. Head coach Zarek Stryker had this to say about Vince:

"I don't care who you are, you don't miss a practice. Especially not to go frolicking with a girlfriend. Vince knew what I expected of him, what I expect of all my players. He screwed over his teammates and put himself first."

When asked why he was going with Jamarcus Russell, a bust who was released by Oakland earlier this year instead of veteran Kerry Collins, Stryker had this to say:

"Russell has the athleticism to run my offense, more than Collins does. He struggled in Oakland, but has been acclimating well in our system in practice and gives us the best chance at winning. Kerry will be waiting to step in, however, and will take over if he is needed."

Vince Young has led the Titans to an 11-0 start on the season, and was putting up respectable numbers doing so. There's no telling how this will affect the Titans going forward, or what Stryker will do once Young returns. All we know is, it's a dark day in Tennessee.

(stupid game changers >.< well, this may certainly throw a damper into the perfect season I have going, and definitely makes things interesting. I can now build a little storyline between Zarek, Vince, and Jamarcus)

Game Notes
Detroit enters the game on a three game losing streak, looking to get back to .500 once again. The NFC North is a tight one, with the Vikings holding strong at 6-5, followed by the 5-6 Lions and the 5-6 Bears. Green Bay is only a game behind at 4-7, so every game is important.

Tennessee enters the game riding an eleven game win streak and an undefeated season, which they will have to keep up to hold off the Colts. This is made difficult by the sudden decision of quarterback Vince Young to up and leave on a vacation, bringing quarterback Jamarcus Russell to the forefront as the starter in this game.

Key Matchups:
Jamarcus Russell vs. the Lions defense
Russell has been labeled as a bust by the scouts after being picked with the first overall pick in '07. After the Raiders released him earlier this year, Titans head coach Zarek Stryker snatched him up on a two-year, 620K contract to backup Vince Young. Now, Russell is once again thrown into the spotlight, but the stakes are higher this year. His new team is riding an undefeated season, and Titans faithful are pressuring him to keep the perfect season going. A tall task against a Lions defense that has been prone to forcing turnovers all season. Can Russell keep his composure and show that he was worthy of that number one pick? Even a sub=par outing would be enough to get the Titans another victory.

Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams vs. Eugene Wilson and Cortland Finnegan
The Lions receiver duo of Johnson and Williams is one of the best, if not the best in the game today. They will be tested by the Titans corners, namely Wilson and Finnegan, who have done a great job this season locking down receivers. They have yet another tall task, so look for Kitna to attack the corners and let his big, strong receivers fight for the ball and win their battles.

Predicted score:
Titans win 24-20

Well, sucks Vince bailed, but it gives you a good reason to play out some more of the season. Good luck!

Raiders D looks good! Thanks for the update - too bad they don't have a qb. Nate's 28 catches with 9 TDs is pretty awesome!
