Bryce Young is the best player in college football.

His success at Stanford was more than a decade ago, and the game has evolved since then. It is extremely hard to just be a physical team with a run first mentality, especially when you get to big games where the talent is more evenly matched. Nick Saban learned that several years ago. UGA got away with it last year with a historically fantastic defense. It's not a recipe I put stock in having consistent success against other elite teams.

Just seemed like OSU had more cards in their favor.
One thing you have to consider, it proved to not be the best recipe prior to the transfer portal era. Nick has done best with pass first QBs that can run. Last time they had a run first QB he was benched after the first game and transferred.

Why is Alabama this year not what we have come to expect? They haven't been able to run the football like they historically have. Why? Their o-line just isn't as good. It's always been there to bail them out in tough games.

Everybody looks at all the flash and skill, but SEC games with evenly matched talent tend to be won in the trenches. Harbaugh is building the same thing at UM and finally has the right KIND of QB to be successful with it.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

USC controls their destiny if it can beat ND and PAC title, and likely Williams winning the Heisman if that happens. Only thing is if both USC and LSU both loses of their next 2 games. I can see USC losing one of these games. If that happens, I can see OSU getting that 4th spot. I think OSU only chance now is if both LSU and USC loses a game

I've already accepted that Alabama is going to back in and win the whole damn thing.

Is a 2 loss team that didn't win its division really going to make it? I doubt it.

Never count out Alabama or Ohio State.

I wouldn't rule out Ohio State either, but 2 losses + no division title seem like insuperable barriers for Alabama. Would be legitimately shocked if they were picked.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

1 Loss OSU without their RB as a narrative will be a thing if ND beats USC. Their only loss is to arguably the best team in the country. Eye test...etc.
