Re: Conference Championship Discussion

If UT's only loss was to UGA earlier in the year we wouldn't be having this conversation. Most everybody on this forum was shocked when OSU lost to Michigan because they had been so dominant.

Instead we'd be arguing over who had the better loss and lobbying for UT because it came earlier in the season.

At the end of the day if UT, USC or OSU had any semblance of a defense or Bama an o-line we wouldn't be here.

Here we sit watching KSU vs TCU, a team they barely snuck by earlier in the season, similar to a lot of their games. If they get jumped on a loss it's going to be justified by their lack of dominance and OOC opponent. It's been used against the Big12 multiple times and if it happens again that will be why.

As far as I'm aware the Big12 teams that did go OOC didn't pick up a major win?

Re: Conference Championship Discussion

I'm baffled anyone would bring up Utah or Clemson going in and then quoting 'what happened on the field'. Non-conference games are still played on fields too, yes? It's ridiculous to say losing a conference game makes it a 'mulligan' they shouldn't have and then say it's ok to be non-competitive with 8-4 Notre Dame and lose at home to 8-4 South Carolina. Shrugging those off is just as much a mulligan as anything else could possibly be.

Unless the playoffs dictate otherwise, it's champion vs. champion. Utah is the champion. They are in the Rose Bowl. It's done, there's no opinion involved, theirs or the committee's.

Is this some bizarre tuck rule thing like Max Duggan is Tom Brady? You can't have a forward pass...without....a........pass

You might conclude the Big 12 is worried about keeping its playoff spot with that...

When they slowed it down from the side, his arm was technically going forward the moment the defender touched the ball. I'll agree with you it looked like a tuck from all other angles, but that one showed it pretty clear, arm going forward, hand on tip of football. It basically looked like he tried to pull it back after it was already touched.

Edit, it was the replay from the left arm side of the field if you're looking for it

Re: Conference Championship Discussion

KSU keeps blowing chances to really put this game away. Starting to feel like another hypnotoad game. Best case scenario in a TCU loss would be failure to convert on final drive.

I don't debate his arm was going forward. But you have to let go of the ball while it's going forward for it to be a forward pass. It getting knocked out while it's still in your hand is a fumble, it doesn't matter what direction your arm is going.

I don't think so? I think by the letter of the rule, as soon as your arm starts moving forward it's considered a forward pass? I'm not sure how CFB's "tuck rule" reads, but that's my understanding of it.
