Re: Conference Championship Discussion

Kind of fun to think about. If TCU holds serve we'll have two conference champs so far that are only in those conferences because of the realignment surrounding the playoffs.

I’d put Utah in before I put Clemson in.

I can see an argument for either. I'd love to see UGA, UM, and TCU win, then the committee take one of Clemson/Utah, but it won't happen. We already know it won't because they don't actually care about what happens on the field half the time.

Re: Conference Championship Discussion

I still don't understand all the belly aching about OSU. They have 1 loss to arguably the best team in the country. That team happens to play in their division of their conference. Period, full stop.

yeah, I'm a Bama fan and so biased to hoping they get in over Ohio State, but if I had to make the best argument over either school, I admit Ohio State should make it in over Bama because:
the separation afaic comes not from who Ohio State & Bama beat,
but rather who beat them

Ohio State only loss to an undefeated (potentially) Michigan while Bama loses to teams with combined 5 L's and likely 6 after today.
I was glad when Tennessee lost to South Carolina and LSU to A&M,
but now LSU and A&M losing will ultimately eliminate Bama from the CFP imo

I'm not thrilled about Ohio State being in, but I can live with it. One loss, but to a team squarely in the playoff. Two pretty good wins (Notre Dame, Penn State). If they had lost to Michigan in early October, I don't think people would have as big an issue with it. But they *just* lost to Michigan.

As you know, I'm just not impressed with Clemson or the ACC this season. I don't think the Pac 12 gets enough credit for just how balanced is. Utah, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington could all beat each other on any given day. Washington State and Arizona aren't terrible. I'm not even sure Cal, Arizona State and Stanford (which beat Notre Dame) are *that* bad. Colorado is the only really bad team in that conference.

I don't want a three-loss team in the playoff, but Utah lost on the road to Florida (not great, but The Swamp is still tough), UCLA and Oregon. And it beat USC twice and Oregon State while winning a tough conference. That's more impressive to me than Clemson.

LFG, TCU.

I have no problem with Ohio State getting that last spot with USC losing.

Re: Conference Championship Discussion

I also hope the CFP committee throws the Rose Bowl a bone in Ohio State being able to play either USC or Utah

I know Utah is more deserving but I assume the Rose Bowl would rather have Ohio State and USC
