Yeah, feels pretty standard nowadays in college sports. It's all apart of the game now. Social Media exposure plays a huge part of recruiting. That's why Deion has been playing up the whole exposure aspect and taking any and every media opportunity he could. Like with Oregon trying to have a different uniform combination every week, it's all for recruiting and is also flashy. Some just don't like how open Colorado has been about it

I can definitely understand disrespected angle. Oregon was a top 10 team and were at home and Colorado was being talked up like the next big thing, so Oregon wanted to "put them in their place" . But, it did feel personal for Lanning. Even in the Pac-12 media day and prior to the the season, he made comments that basically said that he didn't like all the pub Colorado was getting. But Colorado painted this target on their back. Most don't like the overly loud underdog team

I mean, no? It came off like a pre-game speech that happened to have a camera filming it, not a pre-game speech that happened because the camera was there.

I do think it was for both motivation and for clicks. If you're the type of coach who doesn't like the way Colorado is moving, I can see someone talking their ish and trying to humble them and making it known. I'm certain that they will try to use that "substance over flash" in recruiting

And how do you think the producers got their hands on Lanning’s speech?

Thanks for making my point.

Which is no different than what Coach Prime is doing, particularly when most of the world thought they were going to get embarrassed by TCU just a few short weeks ago.

Sanders is also playing the long game for the latter (clicks), because he himself said they’re a year or two away from being good. But the former is to motivate the guys on his team playing now.

But per usual, there’s two different types of responses to the same thing. Not you, just in general.

Exactly. And how many other times was his pregame speech posted and then aired, specifically against the likes of Georgia (when they were underdogs) and Utah (who has owned them recently)?

You’ll eventually get it.

Definitely agree. You can definitely see goalpost being moved. It went from they're only winning 3 games, to they're only winning 6 games. Even if they lose to USC, the proof of concept is already there. People with realistic expectations knew about Colorado's glaring holes and if they can attack the trenches, they can be good in the Big 12 next year

I feel like this thread does the best job explaining it:
