Not surprising see.some Alabama players enter the portsl since they didn't make the playoffs. Won't be surprised to see notable guys on non-playoff teams opt out of bowl game

From what I saw, according to the aggregate computer rankings (averages all computer rankings) Duke is 50 and Missouri is 21st.

I know we saw people opting out before the playoffs became a thing, but it feels like the current system has only increased it tenfold since a lot of bowl games lost their luster.

I think the BCS days when teams were excited to go to their bowl games were a lot more enjoyable than the current CFB setup.

Even the NY6 bowls lost some of it's luster because it's apart of the playoffs. It's a big difference between winning the Sugar Bowl or Fiesta Bowl in the BCS era because now it's just apart of the playoffs. You're not going to celebrate winning the Sugar Bowl if you lose the following game.

I definitely think the Playoff or transfer out will continue

Re: Conference Championship Discussion

I love the narrative that SEC teams shouldn’t schedule anyone OOC when Alabama didn’t play anyone with a pulse out of conference this year while SMU played 10-win BYU.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

And despite that, Alabama's SOS was 45 spots higher. I think it was 55-60 higher before the Clemson game gave SMU a boost. And that still doesn't apparently make up for an extra loss. Maybe if you're 100 spots apart in the rankings, which is virtually impossible to achieve over another power school.

I'm not shedding any tears for Alabama though. I could do without 8 or so of the 12 being allowed access to a potential national championship because it's pretty weak compared to the standard I hold for that.

By the end of the season, the bulk of most P4 schedules are identical in difficulty. Team A's hardest game or 2nd hardest game may be an outlier and harder than the average, but for the vast majority of teams, the other 6 conference games they play are all of very similar quality.

SOS is a terrible metric and I'm glad the committee didn't put a significant amount of weight here at the end. It's one of the few good decisions any version of the committee has made since this crap started.

I might be mistaken, but what I think you're referencing is using the word all to count just 30ish different computer rankings, not the 100+ that are out there that aren't total garbage.
