Bearcats Defeat Pirates by 52
"Cincinnati gets biggest win in three years, defeating East Carolina by 52 in Greenville, N.C."
Thursday January 13th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Bearcats picked up their third straight win and third overall C-USA win as they beat the East Carolina Pirates 90-38 in North Carolina last night. "It's hard to imagine beating a team by more points than they scored." said Vincent Banks on the 52 point win. Both Banks and Nick Williams led the team with 17 points. Cincinnati held the Pirates to a 28% field goal percentage, and forced 22 turnovers.

Jason Maxiell dunks the ball, this was the only bucket Jason made in the game.

The score at the half was 48-19, and at the end of the game was 90-38. Out of the 90 points total the Bearcats bench scored 57 points. Strong Defense Helps Defeat the Cardinals
"Cincinnati grabbed 14 steals and was able to score 20 points off them, helping the Cats defeat the #7 Louisville Cardinals 73-63."
Sunday January 16th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Cincinnati, 11th in the nation, was able to hold on to the victory over the 7th ranked Louisville Cardinals last night 73-63 at the Shoemaker Center in Cincy. Nick Williams lead the team with 21 points and had 3 steals. James White also had a productive game, scoring 10 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and getting 5 assists. The Cardinals were the first ranked team the Cats defeated this season, they lost to #2 Illinois in December.

Jason Maxiell goes up during the first half in Cincy's 73-63 win.

Cincinnati Bearcats Player Stats
Nick Williams - 21 Pts, 4 Asts, 3 Stls
Jihad Muhammad - 15 Pts, 3 Stls
James White - 10 Pts, 8 Rbs, 5 Asts, 2 Stls
Armein Kirkland - 9 Pts, Ast, Stl

Louisville Cardinals Player Stats
Francisco Garcia - 18 Pts, 5 Rbs
Larry O'Bannon - 11 Pts, 6 Asts
Juan Diego Palacios - 10 Pts, 12 Rbs

Team Stats
Score - CIN 73, LOU 63
FG% - CIN 44%, LOU 41%

Blks - CIN 1, LOU 6
Points in the Paint - CIN 30, LOU 30
Bench Points - CIN 14, LOU 12
Fast Break Points - CIN 10, LOU 6

The score was close throughout the game, but the reason the Bearcats were able to pull away was because of their brillant defensive play. Cincinnati grabbed 14 steals while Louisville only had 4. The Cats also only gave up 5 turnovers and the Cardinals had 14, all were Cincy steals. With the win the Bearcats are 4-0 in conference games and 16-1 overall, they also should go up in the rankings after beating Louisville. "They beat us, thats all I can say. We had to many stupid turnovers." coach Pitino said after the game.

Cincinnati Outlook
Last Game - Saturday 1/15, Cincinnati 73, Louisville 63
Next Game - Wendesday 1/19, vs Charlotte

Cool dynasty, I just got done catching up. I am going to start playing one with Louisville probably tonight. I am curious as to what level you are playing at to get those stats in 12 min half games.

keep up the good work.

I play on All-American (No slider adjustments) with 12 minute halves. By the way, good luck with the Cardinals, and thanks for reading.

Cincinnati Recruiting Update
Tuesday January 18th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

So far this season the Bearcats have been focusing on seven recruits, two of them are world recruits, four are high school seniors and one is a junior college freshman. Cincinnati has offered three scholarships, here is a list and breakdown of the players who were offered scholarships:

Jacoby Washington
Power Forward - High School Senior

Rating:

Background:
Height - 6'11"
Weight - 233 lbs
Age - 18
Hometown - Oakland, CA
Potential - Great

School Interest:
#1 Choice - Stanford
#2 Choice - Cincinnati
#3 Choice - Washington

Dyron Schwartz
Shooting Guard - High School Senior

Rating:

Background:
Height - 6'4"
Weight - 198 lbs
Age - 18
Hometown - Council Bluffs, IA
Potential - Good

School Interest:
#1 Choice - Cincinnati
#2 Choice - Illinois
#3 Choice - Pittsburgh

Extra:
Mr. Basketball (Iowa)

J.S. Ricci
Small Forward - High School Senior

Rating:

Background:
Height - 6'9"
Weight - 255 lbs
Age - 18
Hometown - Southfield, MI
Potential - Good

School Interest:
#1 Choice - Cincinnati
#2 Choice - Gonzaga
#3 Choice - Mississippi St.

Extra:
High School All-American

Coach Huggins says the team should be able to land Schwartz and Ricci (already made a verbal agreement), but may have a tough time getting Washington, who is really favoring Stanford. If Cincinnati cant get Washington, they have a back-up from overseas (France) who could join the team. With Maxiell leaving after the season, the Bearcats are in desperate need of bigmen. The Bearcats have a total of 4 scholarships to offer this year, they will be losing two starters, Jason Maxiell and Nick Williams.
