Re: Dirty Disc Errors

Add me to the list where this has worked. I had a couple DDE's on ncaa release day. Since then I've been starting the system and then putting the game in after the dashboard has loaded. After I'm done playing I eject the disc. I've not had a DDE since.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not though.

Re: Dirty Disc Errors

i suggest you guys set your options on the 360 to "load to the dashboard" instead of "load game thats in disc tray"

Re: Dirty Disc Errors

I got a dirty disc once after my 360 was idleing for a while. I came back to play NCAA08 and got the error moments after I started again. Wonder if it' a heat issue with the hardware.

i think DDE is just a generic error message, i don't think it's specific to the cd, it could mean a hard disk error......or it could mean an error with the unit overheating. It's just a silly error message to give if it's not the CD IMO.. shame on you MS....SHAME!

I agree. I had the DDE last year early and this year also (I think on day 2) after VERY little to no human handling.

I also tried the open/close tray solution yesterday, and it has worked in 2 gaming sessions so far. I also cleared the cache as someone else suggested. so far, so good....

Got this from another site:
"Go to the dashboard, then go to the system blade.
Choose Memory, then choose your hard drive.
Enter in this button sequence: 'X' 'X' 'LB' 'RB' 'X' 'X'. A screen should come up telling you that doing this will reconfigure your HD and say, 'YES.'

This apparently will reset the cache on the xbox 360. Do this about every day."

I doubt I will do it everyday, maybe once a week. Just did it yesterday. Not sure if it was because of this, or because I opened and closed the tray before starting the game, but I had no DDE yesterday. I should've done just one first, but will do both going forward if it keeps working.

Re: Dirty Disc Errors

So clearing the cache doesn't erase game saves?
