You don't know, much like any coach in real life doesn't know either...

It also depends upon the game, for example if a RB was there did you run the ball enough for his tastes?

I think when you're #1 on his list and his interest is high is when to offer it.

And there's no exact science to it.

Actually, it's a computer so there has to be an exact science to it...

Promises are strictly off-season.

I like recruiting a lot more this year than last year. I am missing on some of these guys I could recruit in my sleep last year, and also hitting on some guys I have no business getting. I landed the #5 class this year which was exciting for me, I hit on everything except OG, which I am extremely thin at but had enough guys from the last class or on the roster. For some reason recruiting OG and C for me is near impossible, or at least it was last year. My first class I had only 14 or so scholarships to give and I got 24 guys, so that class is extremely thin with some guys I honestly shouldn't have even looked at. It is nice though to see a top 15 in recruiting with all the usual suspects and no TCU or SMU.

Re: Recruiting Coolness

I stole the #6 guy in the nation from Notre Dame in my Southern Miss dynasty. He's a 5 star Athlete that will be a receiver. I was so excited as he was the only 5* guy I landed and to steal him from ND when he soft committed to them early on. I just kept on callin him. It helped that he was from Louisiana and I sold him on staying closed to home.

I think recruiting is a bit too easy though. I landed the #2 class in my first year and the #1 class last year with Miami.

Try doing that with a 3 star school. Try recruiting with a school where you have a lot of "good", "fair", "supar" in a lot of areas when trying to pitch to a recruit. Yall crack me up sayingit's too easy then say you're using a school that is traditionally a powerhouse.
