Mascot mode probably sells more copies than formation subs.

Great Post. The whole PS3/XBOX360 thing is what is the most frustrating thing about this whole current gen situation.PS3 exclusives have a level of polish that is, in my opinion, missing from games developed for both systems. Here's hoping the situation improves.

I'd be willing to bet people don't even know what mascot game is until they buy the game and go thru the options. It's not like Mascot Game Mode allows the game to be rated Under age 6 or something so they can target pre-schoolers.

Mascot Mode is geared for the young kids not the older gamers. People forget we all were once 8-10 years old when we played video games. It doesnt take much to have mascot mode in the game and they get money for it. People need to get over complaining about Mascot Mode.

Formation subs
To have formation subs you have to have space for a new depth chart for every formation in your playbook. A computer thing, they could work around but again its not as easy as people think. We already know space is tight. Right now what every uses disc space has to sell/ make money.

Even if you change or make formation subs or not the memory space has to be allocated and you would have a dynamic depth chart for every formation in your playbook. If you didn't make changes it would just copy the default depth chart and assign it to every formation. And from a computer stand point each formation depth chart would still be saved as a different file for every formation, even if the information is the same. Which is a waste of space in itself

Now they use one depth chart and pull the #2 hb or #2 QB off that depth chart. who ever is the #2 hb or qb are in that slot. Formation subs would have to create a depth chart with the names of players for every formation and stick him as the #1 player in that formation at that position.

Exp. In a true formation sub setup is like this;

An I formation depth chart has hb evans (the starter) at the #1 hb. On the goalline, Hb Wilson (the power back) is the #1 hb.(new depth chart needed). In a 2 wr 2 te set you have your #1 WR collins as your # 1 Hb.(another new depth chart).

It would be harder to do for online play cause the file would get too big. Offline they could do it I bet, i guess they dont want to lose that much space.

Mascot mashup will be advertised like it always is. I think the FLA mascot is on the back of the pre-order box.

I have been in gamestop when couples talk about getting a game and guys tell their wife/girlfriend "we will get NCAA so our son can play mascot". The wife says "yeah and then you use him as an excuse to get the game and you say your playing with him to get your own games in."

Ea is going after students, alumni and college spirit type consumers this year. Watch how many classic teams or schools like U Pheonix or Devry you see on teambuilder.

Best thing that EA can do is fire the old crew like they did with madden old crew. Then bring in a new crew with fresh ideas and also interact with the communtiy like Ian and phil did with us madden fans . Thats what ncaa fans really need is a young new crew with fresh ideas and some excitment about wanting to make the game the way the fans want it.

I never said it took too much time/resources/etc., I just said it's not a reason people buy the game. I was comparing MG to Form. Subs. I'd guess more people want Form. Subs than Mascot games. That's just my guess. I also said they don't rate the game for small children either. Mascot Game is fine for those with young kids.
