Surprisingly, I didn't have any contractual obligations to post this.

NCAA wouldn't allow for it, and better yet; it keeps us buying EA's product.

Not really, for the past three years college football sales have decreased year by year. Putting in things like the playoff option could help increase sales

Why wouldn't the NCAA allow them to put something in the game that's, well, already "in the game"?

The NCAA needs to face reality. This is their LAST game that has the NCAA license tied to it that's still on the market. If they withhold stuff from football this year they might not get another shot at it next year, especially with the pending litigation against EA and the usage of names in games.

Putting this playoff into the game isn't going to make the NCAA look bad either, unlike the discipline aspect a few years ago. It makes them look GREAT for not being too stupid to realize this is where the sport needed to go. The only reason why it isn't in college football THIS season is because of the contract with the BCS.

It HAS to be in the game this year. If it's not, I predict it isn't due to the NCAA telling EA not to put it in. It'll be due to some excuse like, "We didn't know the details of it when we went gold", or "We didn't have time to implement it this year" or some malarkey like that.

Agreed.

The details were announced on the playoff today so it may be a bit of a stretch to incorporate those exact details into the game, BUT even a normal, bland 4 game playoff that kicks in effect after the 2013 season of your dynasty should still happen. I mean a programmer should have no probably coding that in.

Also, we have custom conferences...obviously the NCAA and EA have no clue when the conference re-alignment machine will stop so who is to say in 5 years Texas won't be in the Pac 12, but they can let us do that in the game so why not a version of a playoff?

Re: Playoff option

it would be stupid to keep a playoff out simply because all the details havent been hashed out. super bowl sites arent contracted out 10 years in advance are they? yet you still can have a 10 year dynasty/ccm right? the only legit reason to not having it in the game is the ncaa saying they cant. problem is thats bs on the ncaa's part. or the conference commissioners or whomever.

we know the basic details that are actually important, the only problem is going to be coming up with a formula for a "committee". that problem would likely be the same going into ncaa 15 where they would have to have the playoff in the game.

They always come up with some feature every year that they dub as brand new to get people to buy the game. For example, lets say they put a playoff option in this year and then next year put in FCS teams. EA will always find a way to try to give the people what they want somewhat and still have them coming back.
