I had a similar game vs the Habs like that earlier today, 7-4 was one of those "shoot out" games. Fun times.

definitely. Especially after 3 straight close ones, it felt good to have a comfortable lead for once

Lost my opener to the Preds 1-0, Rinne was his usual brick wall self.

Almost halfway through my first season with the Wild.

Heatley is rocking it: 25 goals, 18 assists so far

Marek Zidlicky was injured for 8 weeks in the first couple games, so that was a blow to my already sub par blue line, nice to finally get him back.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game!`

I've won four of my last five games. And have a record of 6-9-1 so far.

The defensive advice in the..."Let's talk defense" thread, has helped quite a bit with my recent upswing. Not chasing the puck around foolishly in my zone and getting myself outta position has made a big difference for me.

Really enjoying this years game.

Re: NHL 12 "Be A GM" Mode Discussion Thread

first 10 games, my record was 3-6-1 (playing as Montreal). i made some trades before the season started (Kesler = Plekanec + a low draft pick; Gomez = Volchenkov (who was in trade rumor) + 3rd pick and AHL prospect) and picked up some FA's (Zigomanis, Lisin).

Struggling and trying to gel between existing players and newly acquired. Finally, now Montreal is in the row. Next 10 games, my record is 8-1-1 with the total of 11-7-2 in 20 games. Maybe you're wondering why i traded Gomez for Volchenkov, because i dont like the 7M tag/year plus Hall was injured for 8 weeks and i needed a strong blue liner.

finally, more than 1 month of purchase, im enjoying the game.

I'm playing as the Winnipeg Jets. I manage to return to Selanne to Winnipeg for his last year (if the retirement system holds true) from free agents, I also got Hejduk and Roloson (he's been a solid back up) from free agents too, I got Penner from LA (I forget who I traded for him since LA came to me, but it was a defence I didn't need and a draft pick), then I picked Burrows up off of waivers. Combine this and solid goaltending from Pavelec, and solid D from Byfgulien, and you have a successful Winnipeg Jets team thus far

On a side note...I've been playing with the pass assist slider at 2, and my accuracy at 0. In a few games, I started getting a bit frustrated with missing passes I thought I really shouldn't be. So I adjusted the assist up to 3. And I quickly saw my passing improve...but my enjoyment of playing, go down.

With the assist at 3, I found myself kinda throwing the puck around almost at will. Yeah, I missed a few passes here and there, but the feeling of having to be imo...realistically careful with the puck, kinda go away. Along with the fun and interesting play. After two games at 3, I went back now to 2. And my enjoyment returned.

Certainly not trying to knock anyone else's slider choices. But for me now...man, the game just feels so much better with having to be very careful with the puck. Vs throwing it around without much care.
I've found myself having the same internal debate on the pass assist slider. I'm using the Bruins on All Star with Hardcore sliders, and one issue that is killing me is passing. On Hardcore I believe the pass assist is set to zero and I just can't work with it. I've tried for over half a season (actually playing around 25 games) and I just can't pass for anything. It especially drives me crazy when I'm on a pp. No matter what strategy I choose I'm not successful. I've pretty much given up on passing back to the point. Nine out of ten times I end up clearing the puck all on my own.

I think I'll try to bump it up to two and see what I get. I really don't want to because I love sloppy, sim-style hockey, but with the pass assist set to zero, I'm just pulling my hair out.
