Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

I've noticed that created players can appear in the draft or free agency in a new expansion mode. Does this apply to players added by roster update as well?

First period ends tied 1-1. I am 0/1 in powerplays. SOG 9-6 Buffalo.

Second period:

No scoring in the 2nd period. I went 0/1 in the powerplay. Murray made a spectacular save, and I hit the cross bar on a one timer on another shot! SOG: 15-13 Buffalo.

Third period:

Crosby scores early on at the 17:15 mark. His 6th goal of the playoffs and Pittsburgh leads 2-1.

I made the ultimate dumb play and scored and own goal at the 9:14 mark. I was trying to pass it across and it went straight to Lehner and through the 5 hole smh. Pittsburgh leads 3-1 now smh...

Didn't matter though as the game ends with that 3-1 final score. SOG: 22-17 Buffalo. I was 0/3 on the power play. Penguins had zero power plays.

Penguins take a critical game 5 and lead the series 3-2 headed back to Pittsburgh.

Game 6 appears to be playing injured so he will return back into my 2nd line.

C Eichel and C Malone out entire playoffs for sure. So my 4th line is made up of Jokinen, Larsson, and Baptiste.

Game 6 in Pittsburgh underway as the road team Buffalo Sabres look to force a game 7 back home!

First period:

With 2:35 remaining in the first Matt Moulson scores his 4th goal of the playoffs to make it 1-0 Sabres! Murray made a helluva save prior to this earlier. 1-0 Sabres 1st intermission. Pens were not able to get the puck in their offensive zone much at all as the SOG was 12-5 Buffalo.

Second period:

With 4:19 remaining in Jake Guentzel scores a power play goal to tie the game! His 5th of the playoffs. 1-1 score. That's where it ends. SOG 21-15 Buffalo. 1-1 2nd intermission.

Third period:

Early on, with 17:04 remaining Crosby scores his 7th goal of the playoffs with a deflected goal. 2-1 Pittsburgh. Pressure is on now or season over!

With 11:54 remaining, and a 4 on 4, Hornqvist scores his 3rd of the playoffs to now make it 3-1!

Very soon after, 10:40 remaining in the game, Evander Kane finally comes alive this playoffs with only his 2nd goal of the playoffs! Score is now 3-2 all of a sudden.

With 4:34 remaining Hornqvist scores another power play goal and makes it 4-2 now. This appears to be season over at this point. Dangit!

Kessel scores an empty netter late to seal it final 5-2. Season offically over!

So season two is complete of my franchise. Making the playoffs for the first time was awesome. Finding a gem rookie with Alexander Nylander was amazing. I could use improvement at goalie and we need a lot more depth. The injuries in the playoffs really hurt us badly with the lack of depth.

Looking forward to the offseason. I will post again to post who wins the Cup and things. Then on to the draft and free agency which I am excited about.

The 2019 champions are the Tampa Bay Lightning!!

Stamkos and Kucherov led the way with 29pts each during the playings. Goalie, Vasilevsky was 16-3 in the playoffs with a sv% of .942% and GAA was only 1.77!

Now on to the draft!20180606_195239.jpg

Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

Vegas has the #1 pick while I have the #17 pick.

I think I do a good job with scouting throughout the season so whwn looking at the draft class I can pin players and feel confident with what I'm seeing.

As I browse the draft class I see there really are no Goalies worth drafting. The highest potential is a handful of fringe starters.

I have an eye on a LW who shows exact elite potential but projected 3rd/4th round. Should be able to take a chance with my 3rd round pick if he's there. 2nd round pick could be used on him as well depending on who's still available.

Here we go!!

Round one pick (17 overall):

RW Cristiano Hill; 18yrs old 59ovr high Elite

TRADE! ~~StanleyCup champion Tampa Bay Lightning offer their 2019 4th round pick for LW Brendan Lemieux. He was on his way to free agency so I accepted the extra draft pick.

Round two pick (48th overall):

LW Howard Nielsen; 19yrs old 58ovr Low elite potential. This was the guy I pinned who was projected 3rd/4th round. He wasn't the high elite as projected but I'll still take it!

Round three pick (79th overall):

RW Jeffrey Urquhart: 18, 55ovr, low top 9

Fourth round pick (110th overall):

D Toby Slater; 19, 60ovr low elite...might have a good steal here!

Fourth round pick (124th overall):

C Nikita Alexandrov; 18, 52ovr medium bottom 6

Sixth round pick (172nd overall):

LW Bradley Sheppard; 18, 52ovr low top 9

Round 7 pick (203rd overall):

D Ondrej Buchtela; 19, 58ovr, med AHL top 2

Unfortantely for free agency I only have 2mil in cap space so there will be no free agent signings this offseason.

Will post with starting rosters and things later before I begin season three.

Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

I've been really experimenting lately; am trying to repulicate that 5-3 score on my 20 minutes; what I've done lately its taken me a lot of games to figure out; which put my team at 15-25-2 and 8-9-5 for both NHL and AHL; I've also lowered a few stuff; raised pass accuracy: CPU: 100 and Human: 100 and Pass interceptions: CPU: 75 and Human: 75.

walla… had a score of 8-3; I just gotta play few more games to see if results hold or not; gonna play about 10-20 games.

Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

I went back and decided to offer LW Brendan Perlini a 2yr contract worth his asking price of $1.875mil.

He's a RFA so if he accepts it means I give up this year's third round pick to Arizona. The Coyotes decided not to match my offer so I got him for my 2020 3rd round pick.

With losing Moulson and Jokinen I really needed someone to fill their spot. He should play in my third line.

I noticed Goalie Bobrovsky is still a free agent. Rated 92ovr and wants over 5mil. Apparentley no one has cap space including me. Also Fluery still sitting there. Pretty dumb but oh well...any way to help this though?? I'd love to have him but no way I can create that much cap space.

Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

The 2019-2020 season for the Buffalo Sabres is soon to begin! Not really any drastic changes in the offseason.

Losing Moulson to free agency and Jokinen to retirement was really my only lost starters. I acquired Perlini vis free agency for a 3rd round pick to Arizona since he was a RFA.

Here are my starting lines for the upcoming season:
