I'm just happy I'm finally enjoying a Madden football game. At least I have a console sports fix.
Glad you like Madden 19. The last Madden I played were 16 and 17. Those and NHL 16 and 17 were good games IMO. This year though. For me NHL19 is so much better and fairer than Madden 19. I'll be selling Madden 19 back to GameStop only 3 or 4 months after buying it. Never have done that before. Maybe it's because I don't have access to the patches due to not having WI-FI at home but,Madden 19 is so aggravating due it's glitches,A.I. play,CPU all of a sudden becoming unstoppable late in the game which never really happened to me,or felt that way in past Madden games, even without adjusting sliders.

It's definitely the patching over several months that made Madden very good.

Re: Top Features Missing From the EA NHL Series

I decided to chip in on this discussion with a few suggestions/remarks/demands for, let's say NHL20:

Franchise Mode
  • More personnel options:
In NHL2004 you could upgrade coaching staff, trainers, scouts, et cetera. I think this could be quite the addition to franchise mode. For example a level 3 scouting staff will fill all ratings of all prospects in all leagues, and this can be improved by assigning a 'focus' much like the scouting is now (region, position, time spent)
  • More player control: sign your prospects, or send them down to Major Junior (or where ever the heck you got 'em), without having to sign them to their ELC.
Send players to compete in the World Juniors.
Send players overseas to develop. (Send Elias Petterson back for another year at Växjö for example)
Be able to initiate a morale meeting with players
  • Owner mode:
Get a vote for individual awards that are 'as voted by GM's' for example
Be able to give a player a lower base salary (and thus cap hit) but give them performance bonuses instead
Create an easier system to determine trade value involved, I have to hold a ruler to my tv now!

I haven't bought this game for the last two years...that after buying and playing every a new EA NHL game on a yearly basis since it's inception. What they need more than anything is new blood in the development group....they are seriously lagging behind in nearly every aspect of sports gaming. I probably will not be a customer until they make a change.

Sure, NBA and NHL is worlds apart when it comes to swagger and demography - but would it hurt to have something like Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott or something like that in NHL instead of rock, rock, rock? I'm not saying it should be all hip hop, but a more mixed soundtrack would be nice. A mix of NHL, NBA and the Fifa series would be great. I know I can mute it and turn on Spotify or a podcast on another device, but getting a better soundtrack in game would be nice.
Honestly, I love rock music but the music in NHL 19 sounds like the kind of **** you would hear in a Kia commercial. I leave it muted 100% of the time.

I don't even like trap music but NBA 2K19's soundtrack is at least energetic.

Re: Top Features Missing From the EA NHL Series

My wishlist:

1. Frostbite engine
2. GM Connected
3. Reworked board play
4. Better positioning from the players + more offensive and defensive options, basically reworking the entire coaching options to be more in tune with what we've seen from Franchise Hockey Manager in terms of options.
5. Temporary ratings boosts for being hot or cold.
6. Trade value fluctuations based on whose available for trade, contract, how they're playing, and how close the deadline is.
7. Line matching, and alerts for what line the opposing player is deploying.
8. Fatigue building up over the course of a game based on how you deploy your players + ratings. Basically makes you role out your lines more intelligently and punishes poor play more if you keep taking penalties.
9. Starting more fatigued in back to back games.
10. Coach and Assistant Coach Attributes, allowing you to level them up and improve certain aspects of your team, be it how they grow, or applying a bonus to their stamina, etc.

Re: Top Features Missing From the EA NHL Series

I'm done buying any NHL games until there's a dramatic overhaul.

I made the mistake of buying NHL 19 this year (coming from PS3 Legacy) and I'm back to playing Legacy.

The entire direction of the current console gen versions of NHL is a misstep in my opinion.

Also - I really think they should bring future versions to PC again.

PC gaming is back in a big way - and even MS is working to bring nearly full parity between XB and PC in the future.

Realistic board play - i.e. similar to NHL 2K6.

A playable single player mode with decent AI which is genuinely enjoyable. It's a shame how much emphasis is on online/collecting virtual cards/coins/etc.
