If the window is released and it is before the ps5 date, that makes me clamor for information. At the very most I'm now subconsciously expecting information tomorrow or the following days, since the release date would already be out the bag

Dont do that to yourself. Remember in July 2017, EA announced that UFC 3 was coming out in Q4 but there was no info on the game until November.

True, but that was quite a while before two years had passed since the last game. Releasing it late in the year and not on the next generation of consoles is a bit puzzling. Besides the fact that you have a bigger install base on PS4/Xbox One.

I'm not a manager or anything like that, but here's how I would do it, I think. Once a certain point has passed, like July/August, I'd shift it to the PS5/Series X. Yes, you'll lose early sales, but it'll hold up better in the long run when all the new consoles are all the rage and then down the line when people look back.

Having said that, shifting to new consoles near release date is a bit of a development nightmare if you leave it too late. Normally I would say "leave it where it is", so to speak, but aren't these new consoles designed to make the transition as smooth as possible? Same core architecture.

That "besides the fact" is a pretty big thing though. Especially when the new consoles arent expected to be THAT much more powerful for the average consumer than the X1 or PS4.

Lets say they say its coming out in fiscal year Q3 (May through July), that doesnt mean we will have info "soon" when EA doesnt typically promote its games until we get to the 3 mos mark. If the game is coming in June, that means we still have up to 2 mos to wait.

Yeah, I get you. Maybe they'll do what they did for many of their titles in 2013, release on current-gen, then again on the next-generation consoles once they arrive.

I concur, the systems we have now, are dated by 2013 standards. Their CPUs are built for gaming tablets. We could barely get these babies to run 1080p launch titles. The systems upcoming are far more powerful and resourceful, the system gen leap will be closer to ps2 - ps3 than it was ps3 - ps4. ****, sony admitted that they're selling these systems at a pretty sizable loss, and the tech inside is very impressive for the expected price range, under $600. Not to mention the Navi tech and 9 teraflops

Tbf Gion the next gen console is gonna be way more powerful in every aspect of gaming... but the MMA game generation of PS4/X1 wasnt even close to what is actually possible on the current gaming console generation.

Well, EA typically releases a calendar that shows when it plans to release games for its next 4 quarters. Now sometimes the calendar gives a specific release date other times it just the quarter it will be released.

For example, UFC 3 was announced officially in November 2017 but.....EA actually announced it during an earnings call in July 2017

UFC 4 wasnt mentioned in the last call but I have a feeling it will be tomorrow. We may not get the exact date but we will at least hopefully know the range.

Here is an example of the slides that accompany the call. The key slide is page 6.

If you cant answer this wether its because the contract or because you genuinely dont know its fine but i have to ask, if you made a guess would you say that they may possibly show us some news tommorow too or prehaps leak or even the trailer?
