Re: Bungle Power - Fixing the Bengals

I was wondering what Roy Williams was doing on the Bengals when I saw highlights... damn is he that bad? What did he do? I guess with Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress, Shawne Merriman, Marvin Harrison and the slew of others in the headlines including Chris Henry in the news he must've slipped through the cracks of what used to be my attention span... oh and Cedric Benson is on the team too... WOW!

How many wins do the Bungles get for every week that no one gets arrested or talked about in a negative light?

And how long before Chad Ochocinco officially changes his name to Esteban Ochocinco?

I'll be following

Re: Bungle Power - Fixing the Bengals

Bengals Thump Falcons, Trade Star

Just two days after defeating the Falcons 31-17 the Bengals pulled off a huge trade. Dee Snutz sent WR Chad Ochocinco and CB Morgn Trent to Seattle and picked up CB Josh Wilson as well as the Seahawks 3rd and 4th round picks in the upcoming draft.

Ochocinco had been a distraction, acting as though he was bigger than the team. Ochocinco had 2 recoptions for 23 yards and a TD against Atlanta. Trent did not play. Wilson had one tackle in week 1. Wilson is expected to start immediately aside from Leon Hall, giving the Bengals a huge boost in their secondary.

The Bengals signed WR Hank Baskett to fill the void left by Ochocinco. When asked how the receiving corps would be after the trade Carson Palmer simply replied "Fine."

Coles had 52 receptions for 747 yards and 3 TDs in 2009, the most of any reciever left on the Cincy roster. "No one player is bigger than the team. When people are more concerned about what he will do next instead of preparing for our next opponent it becomes a problem, we had to move on." stated owner/GM Dee Snutz.

The Bengals (1-0) host the Jaguars (0-1) Sunday.

Re: Bungle Power - Fixing the Bengals

A Glimmer of Hope
2010 Wrap-Up

Coming off a 3-13 season there was much hope in The Natty that new owner Dee Snutz could turn things around. After replacing the entire coaching staff and much of the roster, including sending many distracting players packing, Snutz promised results.

Many experts were skeptical about just how much of a change Snutz could make in one season. Now we know. The bengals finished up 2010 with a 7-9 record, including a 6-2 record at home. Carson Palmer missed 5 games with a back injury and the Bengals lost 4 of them. The 6-5 record under Palmer is cause for hope. Palmer did struggle at times, posting an 84.6 QB rating with 18TDs and 9INTs, but he was adjusting to a new corps of receivers. Rookie Kemnavus Singletary led the way with 813 rushing yards but failed to score a TD on the ground, the Bengals had just 3. Coles hauled in 47 passes and 5TDs while TE Chase Coffman was close behind with 45 and 5. Hank Baskett scored 5 times on 21 receptions.

The defense played better than could have been expected with all the youth. Rookie MLB Bates led the way with 101 tackles while fellow linebackers Rey Maualuga and Keith Rivers each had 65. Woods, Sims, Johnson and Maualuga each had 12 TFL. Johnson led the team with 9.5 sacks and Woods had 8, followed by Sims with 7 and Maualuga with 6. Kevin Dockery picked off 5 passes, Rookie Ruben Adams had 4 while Ndukwe had 3 and Bates 2.

Graham connected on just 24 of 31 field goal attempts while Huber had an average of 45.3 yards per punt. No return TDs were scored but Andre Caldwell had a 22.7 yard average returning kicks and Dravannti Jordan averaged 15.0 on punts before his injury.

The Bengals head into the offseason in search of a few more pieces of their puzzle.
