Week 17- "Mr. Reliable" Miles Austin not so reliable as a dropped 2-point conversion attempt ends the Cowboys regular season on a three-game skid

AP – The Cowboys have a lot of work to do before their first playoff game, there is no doubt about that. The Cowboys looked atrocious on offense in today's defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. The game was controlled in most part by the Eagles, but both offenses struggled mightily. Romo follows up last week's abysmal performance with one just as bad. The Cowboys end the season on a three game skid heading into the playoffs. Definitely not what the Cowboys were looking for, as far as momentum is concerned.
Allen Rossum returned the opening kickoff into Dallas territory, but the offense was not able to do anything. They settled for a Nick Folk field goal and a 3-0 lead early. Philly would answer with a David Akers field goal to tie it up at 3 at the end of one.
Dallas would put up the first touchdown of the game when Romo hit Barber for a 5 yard touchdown pass, making it 10-3. Philly would once again add another Akers field goal to put the score at 10-6 Cowboys at the half.
Dallas would be shut out in the third quarter but the Eagles were able to muster up an Akers field goal, along with an 8 yard touchdown run from Westbrook. Philly went for 2, but failed. The score to end the third, 15-10 Eagles.
Mid way through the fourth, the Eagles would add another field goal to increase their lead to 8, 18-10. Just like the rest of the game, it was a back-and-forth affair as neither offense could do anything. But, Dallas would be able to force a fumble on a punt return which set up great field position with under 4 minutes remaining. Romo would take advantage and hit Roy Williams on a goal line touchdown pass to make it 18-16 Eagles. Dallas would attempt a two point conversion. Then the unthinkable happened. Miles Austin, the go-to guy all season, dropped a pass from Romo that would have tied the game. The pass hit Austin in the numbers but for some reason, he was unable to hold on. The boo's radiated throughout the stadium, as the fans knew that would cost them the game. Philly would take a few kneel downs and ice the game, winning 18-16.
The Cowboys did clinch the division title with the Redskins loss. They also finish third in the conference and will not receive a first round bye. Dallas will open up the Wild Card weekend against the Washington Redskins in Dallas.
