Re: Win The Day: Oregon Duck Dynasty

OREGON BEATS STANFORD TO WIN 2013 PAC 12 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Ducks may not be going to the BCS title game. Oregon has to feel a little better by winning the 2013 Pac12 Title. They had also won in 2009 and 2010. 2010 is when they played Auburn in the National Title game.

The Ducks defense played probably the best they have all season. Stanford runningback Anthony Wilkerson who killed Oregon in the first matchup, Did have 141 yards rushing but it took 30 carries. his longest run of the game was 13 yards. Stanford lost there starting QB Nunez early in the game but true freshman backup came in and did a good job going 16-30 for 222 yards,

Oregon's DeAnthony Thomas who fumbled the ball in last weeks loss to Oregon St towards the end of the game tried to brush that off and the coaches wanted to give him some confidence has he had the first 4 rushes of the game, Later his last rush of the game was a touchdown run from 5 yards out. Oregon starting Quarterback Cole Tyler a Sophomore said after the game

"its such a good feeling to be able to bring back the pac 12 title here, I mean ya our biggest goal was the national title. But we still need to go out and play one more game and get that BCS bowl win".

Re: Win The Day: Oregon Duck Dynasty

OREGON COMES UP SHORT IN ROSE BOWL. LOSE 34-25

Game Notes:
In the final game for all seniors on both teams and maybe even some Juniors, The Ducks and Sooners battled it out for the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma had won the national title just 2 years ago and had alot of talent still from that team.

It started early for the Sooners, on Oregons first play from scrimmage they fumbled it and Oklahoma scooped and scored for a TD.

The Sooners took a 14-3 lead after a 29 yard TD pass. Oklahoma was shutting down Oregons rush attack all first half. Oklahoma came in with the 7th best rush defense in college football. Oklahoma struck again on a 2 yard TD rush, giving the Sooners the biggest lead of the game 21-3 before half. But we all know its a long game and Oregon can strike quick.

And the Ducks did get a TD right before half on a 16 yard TD pass from Cole Tyler to Ryne Brown. it was Oklahoma at the half 21-10.

In the 2nd half Oregon got its run game going and started to slow down the Sooners offense. Ryne Brown the Ducks true freshman running back who was 5th in the heisman started to pick up rushes of 6 yards and 9 yards here and there.

In the 3rd Oklahoma only was able to get two field goals. And the Ducks got in on a 1 yard TD run by Tra Carson. at the end of 3 it was 27-17 Oklahoma.

In the 4th Oregon would not quit. They were driving but then coughed up the ball inside there own 30. Oklahoma struck back and in 4 plays got into the endzone stretching the score to 34-17 with 6 minutes to go.

Oregon opened up it and got down field and Tyler hit SR Josh Huff who broke a tackle at the 5 and got in for his last TD catch as Duck player. They went for 2 and got it. Oregon had plenty of time to not have to kick a onside. so they kicked off normal hoping for a 3 and out and thats what they got.. On Oregons next drive they completed a 4th and 7 as Tyler hit Charlie Pace for a gain of 17. a few plays later inside the Sooners 40. on a 4th and 10 Tyler was sacked giving the sooners the ball with 45 seconds left. The Sooners ran out the clock and walked off as 2013 Rose Bowl Champions. Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops in the last 3 seasons is now 13-0 vs top 25 teams, very good record. great football game as the Sooners hang on 34-25. We could see both of these teams in the pre season top 10 next season.

Ducks head coach Mike Henry said it was tough to end the season that way and very tough for the seniors but they sure played there hearts out and i cant wait for next season. we have alot of very talented underclassmen who will only get better... The Ducks will lose Seniors such as Josh Huff, Taylor Hart, Boseko Lokombo, Avery Patterson, and many others.

Oregon was held to 68 yards on 40 rushes however the sacks that Tyler took counted against the rushing yards. Tyler was sacked 7 times. However Cole Tyler showed us what he can do when he has to throw the ball. He was 27-44 for 371 yards and 2 touchdowns.. that made up for his rough day on the ground 21 carries 8 yards. but again alot of it was lost on Sacks

2014 PRE SEASON NEWS

*Oregon will not lose any underclassmen to the draft, Christian French and Tony Washington both decided to stay...

*Oregon says goodbye to Seniors--
Center Mana Greig
Wide Receiver Josh Huff
Left Tackle Everett Benyard
Defensive Tackle Taylor Hart
Outside Linebacker Boseko Lokombo
Cornerback Avery Patterson
Wide Receiver Rashaan Vaughn
Defensive End Anthony Anderson.

*Also watch for former Duck QB Bryan Bennett to return to the field in 2014 for Air Force... Bennett transfered from Oregon before the 2013 season. After Oregon had named Coe Tyler the starter going into spring camp.

NCAA TOP 5 RECRUITED PLAYERS
1.Kyle Ward WR Penn St
2.Herbert Fritz HB Alabama
3.Karl Triplett HB Oregon
4.Roger James ATH Alabama
5.Boyd Johnson WR Nebraska

NCAA TOP 5 SCHOOLS IN RECRUITING
1.Alabama
2.TCU
3.OREGON
4.Oklahoma
5.LSU

*No College teams are moving to any other conference this season.

*Oregon will play SEC Champion and National Title runner up Auburn in Week 2 at Autzen Stadium Auburn comes into the season ranked 3rd. While Oregon is ranked 9th. Oregons other 2 non conference games will be at Florida International (FIU) and at New Mexico. a tough first game but Oregon wants that... next season they will travel to Florida to take on the Florida Gators.

*Oregon Ducks red shirts for 2014
HB Jeff Battle FR-Down to far on depth chart

FB Colt Lyerla SR (Oregon wont be using alot of FB this season and they want to have Curtis White finish up at TE, They can also use Wesley Graham at TE he plays WR to 6-5 231.

HB/WR DeAnthony Thomas SR-Thats right Oregon is going to red shirt the all around all american, They feel like they have so many other weapons that they can use this season to replace him and they dont want to lose Thomas yet, he is a SR this season. This opens the door for Devon Blackmon and opens up more playing time for true freshman 5 star Karl Triplett. I think Oregon will be fine without Thomas this season.

OG-Chris Warren FR- Alot of young SOP-JRs ahead of him right now.
OT-Jason Allen FR-More younger talent ahead of him.
DE Doug Brown FR-Younger more talent ahead of him.
DT Kevin Weber SO- 2 better So's and a SR ahead of him
MLB Drew Greene FR-Better talent ahead of him he is right now 5th MLB
CB David Taylor-Currently 6th on the CB depth chart
FS Micah Madison-5th on FS depth chart.
SS Bradon Miller-backup SS but will use RS this season, Opens up playing time for other younger good SS's and FS's
HB Michael Brown- Backup HB but will take red shirt. opens up playing time for Triplett.

*These seem like reasonable red shirts some may be surprised by the Thomas and Lyerla one. But the team will be just fine.

*Rumor is Safty Troy Hill may move to Cornerback but not sure yet, that would then have John Lee and Freshman Brian Nichols as the 2 hard hitting safties..and at Corners Troy Hill and Shawn Everett. Look for the Depth Chart soon.

*Coaching changes going into 2014
COACHING MOVES
In the off season Florida fired HC Will Muschamp and hired Jedd Fisher
Nevada's Chris Ault who led them to the 2012 National Title, Retired.
Notre Dame fired Brian Kelly and hired Bud Foster... Ohio St fired Luke Fickell and hired Jim Heacock. And in the BIGGEST Surprise of them all.. Penn St let go of Joe Paterno and hired Frank Spaziani. Maybe there looking to move on. Tennessee Fired Derrick Doley and hired Kevin Steele.. And it was only a matter of time.. USC fired Lane Kiffin after a 6-7 season and they hired Mike Sanford.. For the Head Coaches that were let go here is where they ended up.... Brian Kelly is now the OC at Iowa St...Lane Kiffin is the OC at Minnesota...Derrick Doley is now the OC at Western Kentucky.. and former DC at USC Monte Kiffin is now the DC at Nebraska. Solid move there other then USC's defense was ate up all season... and i guess JOE PA doesnt wanna stop coaching he is now the HC at Florida Atlantic.....Will Muschamp is the DC at San Diego St.....

2014 OREGON DUCK SEASON

2014 OREGON DUCK SEASON

2014 TEAM NEWS

Oregon fresh off a 2013 Pac12 title but a loss in the Rose Bowl to Oklahoma brings back alot of talent they only lost 9 Seniors but the Sr's were some good ones including Josh Huff, Taylor Hart, Avery Patterson, Boseko Lokombo, But alot of the returning starters are still young and are getting better every year. there is 3 recruits that are going to be on the watch list this season on the field 5 Star HB Karl Triplett may not start but will play alot behind starter Ryne Brown, And they may even be on the field at the same time.. The other is OLB Joe Gore a 4 star recruit is all around a great player. Rated 82 overall as a freshman, Thats just as good as returning starter and leading tackler Anthony Wallace. So Joe Gore is the real deal. I think the the guy on the list who is the most watched will be fast and hard hitting Safty Brian Nichols, at 6-3 212 he is rated as a freshman 81 overall already, And is listed as being just as fast as DeAnthony Thomas.

The Offense will return alot of talent and put up points as always.. JR QB Cole Tyler is back and looking even better. And Charlie Pace the outstanding WR is now the #1 go to player. so the Ducks have a starting 5 star player at QB-HB and WR. The defense will be much much improved and look for Oregon to make a run at the national title again and try to defend there pac 12 title. But they open up with a tough Auburn team who lost in the national title last season.. And beat Oregon in the finals in 2010...

Oregons predicted record during regular season 11-1...

after week 12, the Pac 12 North has 3 top 25 teams but the more overall better South has no top 25 teams, Whats more interesting is Boise State being ranked over USC and UCLA both teams beat Boise St, I think what has moved Boise St into the top 25 is there 5 game winning streak, Including wins over Cal and Oregon.... USC can wrap up the South with a UCLA loss next week, USC has the week off before there regular season finale against UCLA, If the bruins beat Utah, then the USC/UCLA game will be for first in the Pac 12 South, The North is down to 2 teams Cal and Boise St, Cal has the tie breaker for beating Boise St.

#3 AUBURN AT #9 OREGON

Eugene Or:
The 9th rank Oregon Ducks opened there season at home against the defending SEC champion and #3 Auburn Tigers who also lost in the National Title game to Wisconsin. Auburn defeated Oregon in the 2010 National Title game. Oregon was also coming off a big bowl game loss. Losing to Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl..

So it was the Pac 12 champions vs the SEC champions. Many expected a shoot out but Auburn was replacing some key players on offense.. RB Michael Dyer and QB Clint Moseley. But now Auburn as another dual threat QB like they had with former star Cam Newton. This years starter is JR Kiehl Frazier 6-3 217 and can pass and run.... How would he do against thetop rated defense in college football. YES top rated (94)..

The game was pretty back and forth defensively by both teams and surprising as it was, the game was tied 0-0 after one. Both teams kicked a field goal in the 2nd Qtr and thats how it was at half 3-3. Both defenses brought the lumber today making great hits and sacking the quarterbacks. Oregon had 2 true freshman on D make a very quick and fast impact on the game.. Saftey Brian Nichols and Linebacker Joe Gore. Both of those players had 6 tackles in there first college football game. And Gore had a sack.

Oregon also attacked the Auburn defense with two outstanding runningbacks. Returning starting and current Heisman watch player Ryne Brown and also true freshman 5 star running back Karl Tripplet..

Oregon managed to get another field goal in before the end of the 3rd and it was 6-3 Oregon going into the 4th. And thats where most of the scoring was done... Early in the 4th Ducks runningback Ryne Brown rushed up the middle broke a tackled and scored from 7 yards out. extending the Ducks lead to 13-3. But the Tigers came roaring back and QB Frazier found WR T.Redd for a 8 yard TD pass. it was 13-10.

Oregon ended up punting onthere next drive just trying to run clock off.. Auburn had another shot but on 4th and 9 Auburn threw a pass and it was over thrown and the Ducks took over with. After a few plays the Ducks had a 4th down and there was only 17 seconds left. but they were at the Auburn 26 yard line so Oregon just kicked 3 more. Not to add insult. But they didnt want to turnover the ball on downs and Auburn then make a miracle play. Oregon got the field goal and got outta there with a 16-10 win. Great job by both defenses today. And we wonder how much has Oregon's D improved?? It will be hard the next couple games as the ducks play New Mexico and FIU..
