Game Notes
Surprising Utah Utes is leading the Pac-12 south division with USC Trojans. Utah and USC will face each other in two weeks and Utah can't look pass this week against struggling Colorado Buffaloes.
Utah has the advantages in every stat and have talent everywhere on offense led by Senior QB Jordan Wynn. Wynn, one time Colorado commit, has playmakers on WR. Devonte Christopher will command double team, and Buffs linebackers will have a hard time trying to cover TE Kendrick Moeai.
This is a bad matchup for Colorado. #5 passing offense against CU's #105th passing defense. Don't be surprised if Jordan Wynn throws for 400 yards.
It's a big recruiting week, as Colorado will have 7 visitors for this rivalry game.
On a 3 game skid, and in need of a victory the Colorado Buffaloes came out strong vs their rival Utah. Thanks to a ground attack, Buffs were able to the win 40-20. Without their starting RB Tony Jones, tandem of Josh Ford and Malcolm Creer ran for almost 250 yards.
Jordan Wynn who came into the game with a TD-INT ratio of 16:0 , threw zero touchdowns, but 2 costly interceptions. He did throw for 318 yards, but that wasn't enough.
Each team turned the ball over twice, and Colorado had almost a 200 yard advantage in total yards thanks to D.D Goodson's kickoff returned for a TD to start the second half.

Arizona State is coming off a win the Bruins and will try to ride the momentum in conference play vs Colorado Buffaloes who is coming off a win vs Utah. Senior QB Brock Osweiler remembers Colorado really well as he set the passing record for school history in last year's matchup.
ASU has the #3 passing offense in the country and will air it out everytime they can. It's bad news for Colorado who's pass defense is #112 in the nation. Brock Osweiler will have a field day today passing to Jamal Miles, Kevin Ozier, Christopher Coyle and Cameron Marshall from the backfield.
Both Arizona State's tackles are questionable with injuries. Tyler McCulloch is questionable for Colorado but is expected to start.
Buffs managed to build momentum after beating Utah Utes by beating Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe, Arizona. Arizona State started quickly, jumping out on 10-0 lead after first period bu after that Colorado took control of the game. Colorado scored 31 straight points from middle of 3 quarter to 4th quarter.
Brock Osweiler was bad in this game trying to protect the ball. He threw 4 interceptions, two of them in the redzone. He did pass from 479 yards, most during garbage time. ASU didn't have any rushing game as they ran for negative yardage in the game.
Paul Richardson was the player of the game as he caught 6 passes, 3 for TD.
Darragh O'Neill was benched from his kicking duty after missing an early FG, and was replaced by RS FR Will Oliver. O'Neill will be back kicking FGs for next game.
Another bad injury for buffs as SO HB Malcolm Creer suffered an injury and will miss some time. Right now, HB is thin as Josh Ford and D.D Goodson is only two players left in the depth chart. CB Josh Moten will serve as a emergency HB.

Buffs need a win this game to become bowl eligible. UCLA still has a chance to win the Pac-12 South, but it will be hard to reach that as Utah owns the tie breaker. QB Richard Brehaut returns for the game. They have the 24th best rushing attack in the country behind their pistol formation. Also has the 7th best run defense, defense is key for UCLA's success this year as they try to control the clock.
Colorado has the advantage on pass offense, Connor Wood will throw on the UCLA's bad pass defense. With the win, Buffs has a chance to finish 3rd in the Pac-12 South, so a lot is on the line for both teams.
Special teams came up big as the Buffs returned two kickoffs for a TD against UCLA Bruins in a 35-24 victory on a snowy field. After no scores in the first quarter between the two teams, Colorado broke the ice on a long pass to TE DaVaughn Thornton.
The passing game for UCLA was shown in this game as Richard Brehaut threw for 351 yards on the game, but had no help from the running game. Only Jordan James carried the ball for UCLA and ran for 85 yards.
For Colorado, D.D Goodson and Austin Vincent ran back two kickoffs in the third quarter after both UCLA touchdowns. UCLA couldn't build any momentum after those TDs as it was quickly matched by CU. D.D Goodson had a 98 yard kickoff return to the house, while Austin Vincent set the record with 106 yard kickoff return.
Now on a 2 game winning streak, Buffs can end their regular season on a positive note when they host 1-10 Arizona Wildcats. UCLA faces their rival USC to end the regular season.

It has been a tough year for the Wildcats as their only win came against a FCS team. They have lost in blow out games for most part and are not used to winning a close game. Tom Savage, transfer from Rutgers, has struggled in the air raid offense only completing 49.5% of his passes and has thrown for 12 INTs. RS Freshman David Richards is Arizona's primary target catching 79 passes this year. There is not much talent on offense for Arizona, and the 18.5PPG shows that.
On a 3 game winning streak, Colorado can't fall asleep against this Arizona team like they did with Cal when they were 0-6. Sitting 4th place in the Pac-12 South, with a win and a UCLA loss, they'll finish 3rd place in the South so there is a lot on the line and to finish the season on a winning streak heading to a bowl game. Right now, Colorado is projected to face Boise State in Las Vegas Bowl, just like last year.
