Week 5: BC @ Colorado

Defensive Game Again

Another low scoring game as these two offenses couldn't do much against other teams' defense. BC got most of their yards through the air while the Buffs got theirs on the ground. Each team committed a redzone turnover.

Colorado scored first on a Darragh O'Neill FG in the first quarter. BC got the next 6 points on FGs in the second quarter. Buffs started the third quarter quickly as Tony Jones took a carry 60 yards to the house giving CU the lead. They later added on that lead on a long pass play from Wood to Paul Richardson.

BC is now 0-3 on the year, and CU is 3-2 and has a conference game with struggling Cal Bears.

Game Notes
0-4 California Golden Bears tries to get on the win column when they'll face the Buffs for the first time as a Pac-12 conference mate. Both of these offense are similar, tries to run the ball to set up the passing game. They are both averaging close to 23.5 points per game, but difference is the defense. Cal is giving up about 32 a game while CU is averaging 22.

Buffs have one of the worst defenses statistically so far. They can't stop the run nor the pass, so the Bears will have to use that advantage. You can get yards against the Buffs defense, they are what you call bend but don't break defense.

Buffs will have 3 players visiting for this game.

Re: NCAA 12: Colorado Buffaloes

Win #1 for Cal

California Golden Bears finally got on the win column as they beat the Colorado Buffaloes with a late TD. All 24 points in the 4th quarter were scored on final 47 seconds left on the game.

Cal took a 24-21 lead with 47 seconds left, it took only 17 seconds for Colorado to answer with a TD of their own. Then in 15 seconds, Cal scored a TD to take a 3 point lead and Sebastian's pick 6 for CAL sealed the win.

Colorado falls to 3-3 and will face USC next. While Cal is 1-4 and hopefully build the momentum.

Game Notes
Buffs will face a stretch of games where they'll face a top 25 opponent. It'll start with #18 USC Trojans. Trojans are led by freshman QB Max Witek and junior WR Robert Woods. USC offense will have an easy time moving the ball against the Colorado Buffaloes defense that is regressing from week to week.

USC is filled with talent on offense. HB Curtis McNeal will be expecting to carry most of the load against the 110th rush defense in the country. Robert Lee and Marqise Lee is the possibly the best WR tandem in the country.

Re: NCAA 12: Colorado Buffaloes

Another Loss

In a rainy night, Colorado couldn't pass the USC Trojans. It wasn't good night for the Buffs as they turned the ball over 4 times. QB Connor Wood threw an INT and after an injury, backup QB Nick Hirschman also threw an INT.

USC's Max Wittek threw two early TD and completed 56%. He didn't have to throw a lot as the running game for USC took off, rushing for 234 yards and scored 3 TDs.

After a bye week, Colorado will go to Autzen to face Oregon Ducks.

Game Notes
True freshman QB Jonathan Kimbrough was expecting to sit a year before starting, but his time came early as QB Bryan Bennett was injured early in the year. With Kimbrough, Oregon has been struggling, losing 4 straight games and haven't won a conference game yet.

On offense, DeAnthony Thomas is the playermaker on offense both running the ball and catching the ball. Oregon has a stacked receiving group and easily rotate between 11 guys.

Oregon has the advantage in every category and is expected to win their first conference game of the year at Autzen.

Defense?

Defense was optional in this game as the Oregon Ducks won 59-36. Both teams combined for close to 1200 yards of total offense. Oregon ran for 361 yards and passed for 272yards, while Colorado ran for 158 yards and passed for 447 yards. It was an offensive coordinator's dream and defensive coordinator's nightmare.

Oregon took an early lead, and ran with it. It was 45-13 Oregon at half and Colorado couldn't stop the Oregon offense at all.

True freshman QB Kimbrough threw for 272 yards and ran for 62 yards. He had 6 touchdowns in this game.

Not only the Buffs lose the game, but they also lost two players on offense. Starting HB Tony Jones will miss 2 months with a torn pectoral while starting WR Tyler McCulloch will miss two weeks with a Bruised Shoulder.
