Leshoure Returns to Practice

Lions running back Mikel Leshoure is eligible to return from his two-game suspension in Week 3 as the Detroit Lions are set to take on the Titans in Tennessee. He's one of the hottest "add now" guys in almost every format of fantasy football and hasn't even taken a regular season NFL snap in his career.

Head Coach Jim Schwartz spoke about Leshoure's return - "He did a good job of staying with it. He was suspended so he wasn't allowed to be at our games or our practices, but he could still work out in our facility and go to team meetings, stuff like that. So we saw him around last week. He's worked really hard to be ready when his number's called. We've been waiting a long time to call his number, so we know he'll be ready."

Stefan Logan continued to take the first-team reps during the portion of practice open to the media. Lions coaches and players won't say how big of a role Leshoure might play. Whatever role he plays, however, will be played for free. He was fined an additional two game checks as part of his discipline, meaning his first paycheck won't come until Detroit's bye week (Week 5).

Lions Rally Late to Beat Titans with Touchdown in Final Minute

The Lions overcame a 16-point deficit in the third quarter to escape with a 29-26 win over the Tennessee Titans on the road.

The game started slow and began gaining momentum in the second quarter. Both teams were scoreless after one quarter, yet the Titans managed to secure a 20-7 lead by the end of the half. They closed the half with 10 points in the final minute. That lead would take nearly the entire second half to erase.

Trailing 23-7 in the third quarter, Stafford connected with Calvin Johnson for a touchdown and the Lions elected to go for two, converted, and it was suddenly a one-score game at 23-15. After regaining possession and moving into scoring position, Ryan Broyles dropped a would-be touchdown. That mishap would be felt in full force on the following play when Jason Hanson missed the field goal attempt, keeping the Titans' lead at 23-15.

Tennessee would tack on another field goal to cushion their lead at 26-15 in the fourth. That is when Mikel Leshoure showed up. Leshoure took the handoff on a counter play, got outside, and finished the run in the endzone, closing the gap to 26-21. The Lions again attempted to go for two, trying to make it a field goal game, but failed.

With under two minutes remaining, Titans still leading 26-21, Stafford found Nate Burleson wide open along the sideline for a big fourth down conversion. The Lions elected not to use their timeouts in an attempt to own the final possession. On 3rd & Goal, Leshoure again converted up the middle for the go-ahead score. Detroit had their first lead of the game (27-26) and elected for the 2-pt conversion once again. The attempt was converted and the lead was pushed to 29-26. On the game's final play, Jake Locker heaved it up as far as he could into a crowd, but the pass fell incomplete well short of the goal line.

Mikel Leshoure was quiet for the first three quarters of his NFL debut, but ran strong in the fourth quarter and scored two big touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 25 seconds remaining.

Haha, I hate that I had to play them. I picked an NFC team to avoid them as much as possible. I’m glad they didn’t roll over.
