With only three games left in the 2014 NFL season, the AFC playoff race is just too close to call. All of the division leaders have a 9-4 record, creating a four-way tie among them. The two wild card teams are just one game behind. This scenario should make these last few weeks in the season very interesting. A loss could take the top seed in the AFC completely out of the playoffs while simultaneously making room for a team that isn't in the top six. Now would not be a good time for a team slip up in the AFC.

With the Atlanta Falcons clinching the division last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no in a tougher position. Not quite able to qualify for a playoff spot this game may make or break their season. Not only would it mean an uncertain future for quarterback Mike Glennon, but also for head coach Greg Schiano. While having the 25th ranked offense won't help, the Buccaneer's 10th ranked defense will have to play well enough to help the team beat the Falcons. The Falcons have little to play for at this point in the season after securing the NFC South with a win last week. If the Falcons do come out with a lackluster performance, the Buccaneers could use that to their advantage.



The top two teams in the NFC and possibly in the league this year face off when the Green Bay Packers travel to CenturyLink Field to play the Seattle Seahawks. This game is about more than just a match between the top teams. The Seahawks and Packers are also in a battle for home-field advantage in the NFC. Playing at home can be a huge advantage for an NFL team and whichever team is able to win the game will have the inside track at getting home-field. That's a position the Seahawks would like to be in again this year.

New England Patriots Scouting Report

While the New England Patriots scouts were supposed to narrow down the list of players being scouted, they instead added more. The good thing that has come out of it is that they have found players like Pete Sulka, Jemarious Shepard and Grant Azur. With Devin McCourty re-signing with the team, it has taken a bit of the focus away from the free safety position. That hasn't stopped the scouts from looking. After the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the feeling in New England is that there needs to be drastic changes made to the secondary. The only question is whether they should go with a player that has potential in the draft, or look in free agency to see what's available.

The wave of re-signings and contract negotiations continue this week with Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green turning down an extension. Along with every other team, the Bengals can choose to place the franchise tag on Green before the start of the next league year. Green has been cornerstone of the Bengals offense for the past few seasons.

Another player that is pivotal to his team's success decided to stay as Vince Wilfork agreed to a 2-year contract extension with the New England Patriots. While some believe the team has over-payed for an aging player, Wilfork's production speaks for itself. At the age of 32, he is still among the top defensive tackles in the league. Along with Wilfork, these are some of the other players that have re-signed with their current teams.






The Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and Atlanta Falcons will get some starters back this week. All three teams are in the midst of a playoff run and having some of their best players on the field will be a big bonus for them. A couple more starters returning this week are Wesley Woodyard and Star Lotulelei for the Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers.

Two straight losses combined with injuries have finally caught up with the team. Luckily, the Patriots now 28th ranked defense will be at home. That can't be too comforting as the Colts have the 4th ranked passing attack in the NFL. The Colts, a team currently out of the playoff chase would love nothing more than to throw a wrench into the Patriots plans. That will be a difficult thing to do as the Patriots are perfect at home with a 6-0 record.
