Week 2 vs Jets

Valiant Effort, But No Cigar for Jets

Tom Brady loads up pass in big win against Jets

The heavy rain and high winds didn't seem to stop the Patriots as they blow away the Jets in the 48-14 win. This game just couldn't find itself going for the Jets, as the very first play for the Jets resulted in a fumble as Kyle Wilson dropped the ball on the kick return. The Patriots would tack on a 43 yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski. The Patriots would end the first quarter with a LeGarrette Blount touchdown for the 10-0 lead after two failed Jets drives. Geno Smith would finally manage to put a touchdown on the board with a pass to Stephen Hill. Tom Brady would catch fire in the cold rain throwing deep passes to Kenbrell Thompkins and Danny Amendola. Brady would throw 2 touchdowns in the second quarter to the same receivers. The game was over in the third when Brady found Rob Gronkowski for a 65 yard touchdown. Geno Smith would put up one more touchdown for the Jets, but another Gostkowski field goal and two Shane Vereen touchdowns would close out the game, 48-14.
Tom Brady would be named player of the game with 411 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.

Coach Rex Ryan on the loss:
"This game was solely on the coaches and me. We put our defense in poor positioning the entire game and that led to Brady exploiting us. The Patriots are a great team, and we've gotta learn our lessons from this and get ready for next week. We know how they're going to play, and we'll see 'em in a few weeks."
The Patriots will face the Buccaneers at home next week, while the Jets will face the Bills.

Week 3 Preview (CBS)

Shannon: If Mike Glennon can get going fast enough, I have faith the Buccs' defense can slow down Tom Brady. Buccaneers win 24-17.
Boomer: The Buccaneers are in now way stopping the Great Brady and this high-powered offense. The Patriots just put up 48 points against the Jets. They're on a heat streak, so I'm going New England 35-14.
Cowher: I'm with Boomer, I've seen Brady first hand and even the best defenses can easily stop him. Look for him to go to his safety blanket over the middle, Rob Gronkowski. Patriots: 24 Buccaneers: 14.
Marino: Yeah, I usually won't pick over Brady. But what I wanna see out of the Patriots is a more dominate run game. That could be the difference when it comes down to the end of the season when playoff spots are won and lost. Patriots 14- Buccaneers 3.
Brown: Sounds good to me guys, but I'm gonna go ahead go for the upset. This game is going to come down to the last second, and Connor Barth will save the Buccs. 17-14 Buccaneers.

Week 3 vs Buccaneers

Patriots Halt Comeback and Receive Overtime Win

Patriots after win

Foxborough, MA- The New England Patriots came on top earlier this afternoon in overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFC South in Gillette Stadium. The game favored the Patriots in the first half, but quickly went south in the direction of the Buccaneers.

Tom Brady found Rob Gronkowski in the end zone twice in the first half: the first being for 44 yards, and the second for 13. These scores would only be countered by a Mike Glennon touchdown to his tight end, Luke Stocker, ending the first half 14-7 New England.

Glennon would struggle in the second half, throwing two interceptions to Dont'a Hightower and Kyle Arrington respectively. Along with this, Jeremy Zuttah would get called for holding twice, negating two touchdowns. The Patriots would tack on a Stephen Gostkowski 30 yard field goal to start the fourth quarter, giving New England the 17-7 lead. Then, Connor Barth, who had missed two previous field goals in the first half (41,38), would nail 54 yard field goal to bring the Patriot lead within 7. A few stalled drives later from both teams, Mike Gelnnon finds Mike Williams for a 17 yard touchdown to tie the game after two fourth-down conversions. The Buccaneers would get a chance to win the game after Kenbrell Thompkins dropped a key fourth down coversion that would have put the Patriots in field goal range. Mike Glennon drove the Buccs down the field and in the closing seconds of regulation, Connor Barth would miss his third field goal from 43 yards out.

The Buccaneers would win the overtime coin toss and drive to the forty-yard line. On a third-down play, Mike Glennon found Luke Stokcer over the middle and Stocker would catch and run for the touchdown. Or so he thought. Jeremy Zuttah would get called for holding again, negating the touchdown and OT-win. The Buccaneers would be forced to punt and Tom Brady took the Patriots to the three yard line, giving Stephen Gostkowski the game-winning field goal.

Zuttah on game:
"There are not many times that you can blame the game on one person completely. Today is one of those times. I made too many mistakes, I got lazy. I cost us the game. I gotta get better, we had this game at so many points... You just gotta try harder."

Week 3 League Recap

Game Recaps
No Philly Cheese Steaks For Andy: Andy Reid returns to Philly and comes up one touchdown short. Alex Smith would throw 2 touchdowns and 180 yards.

Overrated and Upset: Woes of the Mile High: Oakland shocked the NFL by defeating the high-powered Denver Broncos in the 13-10 upset. Peyton Manning, who put 4 touchdowns against his brother last week, did not throw one. Insult to injury? Denver lost at home.

Jacksonville Scored Over 14 Points? OVER SEATTLE?: Blaine Gabbert and the Jacksonville Jaguars soared over the Seahawks in the 38-31 shootout in Seattle. Blaine Gabbert put up 2 touchdowns on 220 yards. Still doesn't sound right.
