Boston Globe
The Ice respond to tough loss with 35-13 win, Albertson's struggles continue.
After losing 17-13 to Indiana, the Boston Icestorm took on the lowly L.A. Magic, who offered very little challenge. Nose tackle Bamidele "Bam Bam" Shepard recorded 5 tackles in the backfield, and was part of a defensive effort that only allowed 82 rushing yards. Pass rushing specialist Trent Barnes recorded a sack, and Cage Pope held receiver Billy Timmons to only 2 catches for 13 yards. "That's why they call me Cage, I keep them receivers locked down," he said after the game.

On offense, fans were treated to the most creative playcalling they have seen out of this franchise. Coach French started the game off with 3 consecutive triple option plays, that gained a total of 59 yards. Quarterback Neal Albertson finished with 50 rushing yards. The bad news: he only had 97 passing yards, with 1 touchdown and 3 picks. He seemed more natural running the option, but his ineffectiveness in the passing game lead to his benching midway through the third quarter. Former receiver I'timad Sydney took the majority of snaps in the second half (mostly out of the wildcat), and finished with 123 passing yards, 46 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown. Runningbacks Rickey Kidd and Jack Randall combined for 189 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Special teams even contributed to the blowout, as return man Alim Sultan took a kickoff 96 yards to the house. "This is a good win, and something we can build off of," said Jack Randall after the game. The 235-pound back finished with a career-high 102 yards. "We just have to take this season one game at a time."

Bandits Steady in Win Over Eagles

The Carson City Bandits responded from last week's lampooning at the hands of Omaha with a solid 24-20 win over the DC Eagles.
Linescore from the game:

CCB 0 7 10 7—24
DCE 6 7 7 0—20

1st Quarter: 6-0 Eagles
DC led off the game with a long drive that was ended in the Red zone. They kicked a 33-yard field goal. They regained possession after a punt to end a long drive by Carson City, and drove upfield where they were intercepted by SS Brian Cole. The Bandits were forced to punt once again, and the Eagles kicked another FG before the first quarter ended.

2nd Quarter: 13-7 Eagles
Both teams traded touchdowns in the middle of the quarter, the Eagles drawing first blood after a QB Greg Hindale fumble. The Bandits struck back to keep the game within reach on a 15-yard Hindale strike to RB Quinten Davis.

3rd Quarter: 20-17 Eagles
The Bandits had a sense of deja vu as they also kicked a [43-Yard] field goal on their first drive. The defense made a fine 4th down stop, but moments later Greg Hindale was picked off and returned to the 3 (tackled by Xavier Hosley). The Eagles punched it in on a disputed 3rd down call, wherein it looked like the Eagles RB was down before scoring. This appeared not to matter to Carson City, as Hindale found slot receiver Kyle Manson for a 24-yard touchdown.

Final: 24-20 Bandits
Funnily enough, the final score came within 4 minutes of the start of the quarter, as Quinten Davis notched his second combined TD of the day on a 9-yard amble. The defense held DC down the rest of the way, with a third-down sack by Tank Harding on 3rd and 12 put a first down and the game out of reach.

CCB Stats:
QB Hindale—15-26, 2 TD, FUMB, INT, 267 Yards
RB Davis—19 Attempts, 88 Yards, TD, 3 Receptions, 42 Yards, TD
WR Hosley—4 Rec, 61 Yd, TD
WR Gurriman—2 Rec, 49 Yd
TE Wesfeld—7 Rec, 44 Yd

DT Harding—4 TAK, Sack
LB Rewsper—11 TAK
SS Cole—7 TAK, INT, FF

Re: ASFL Roleplay thread

Got some news posted about some of the Portland Players. I still don't have a full roster, but wanted to at least get up some info on a few of my stars.

Also posted Team History as well as introduced the team owner, for future posts.

Kings Fall Short 42-24 Despite Late Rally

Coach Johnson was really hoping for a signature win to propel the team. He would not get it tonight.

It was a rough first half for the kings. Down 35-3 it looked like Oklahoma would just walk away with the game. They did, but the score got a lot closer. The Kings came out firing i the first quarter to make it 35-10. Oklahoma ran the kickoff back to make it 42-10. Atlanta got 2 more touchdowns including a Jaxon Reynall 75 yard interception return touchdown. Reynall was the player of the game for the kings grabbing that interception plus two sacks. Quarterback Rex Treeceman had this to say after the game.

Quote:
We just didn't execute like we know we can. We got outclassed in every part of the game the first half. We stepped it up the second half though. We need to play the entire game like we play in the second half.
Treeceman had a very pedestrian day going 15-28 for 112 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Ed Reynolds had a nice day grabbing 8 of those passes. Finally Running back Harrel Johnson had a nice day gong for 135 and a touchdown.

Notable stats
Treeceman- 15-28 112 yards 1 touchdown
H. Johnson- 24 carries 135 yards 1 touchdown
E. Reynolds- 8 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown
J. Reynall- 1 interception touchdown 2 sacks 1 forced fumble

Coaches thoughts

Quote:
That was a tough loss because I think we win if we get another half to play. That first half was ugly though. The players got their butts whooped, us coaches got our butts whooped, hell even the cheerleaders got their butts whooped! I came to this job knowing it would be a rebuilding project and the things I saw in the second half of this game makes me think I made the right move.

Re: ASFL Roleplay thread

I'm changing the way the draft works. Instead of having a draft pool, we'll create our own prospects and draft them.
The system is that for every two strengths a rookie has, they need one weakness.
