Tennessee is rated a "B+" in Overall Rating, Offense Rating, and Defense Rating.
Utah State is rated a C in Overall Rating, a C+ in Offense Rating, and C in Defense Rating.
Kirk Herbstreit picks Tennessee over Utah State 31-14
Quite a good recruiting class. It's certainly something you can build off.
I was surprised at all the "Gems" I had commitments from. If I remember correctly; Tyrone Franklin, Shaun Moss, Jason Roberson, Andy McBride, Carlos Golden, and Cornelius Jackson were all gems. O_o
"It was a good win for our guys... It wasn't great, but it was a good win," Jones said.
"The defense needs work. They went a perfect 2-2 on 4th down. That is unacceptable and can't happen again... ever. That is a great recipe for how to lose a game. We didn't have a sack in the entire game and we didn't have an interception. That has got to change. We're not going to win SEC games without putting pressure on the Quarterback and forcing turnovers plain and simple. But, if it's one thing that I liked from the defense today it was the secondary. Our goal every game is to keep the Quarterback below a 50% completion rating and we were at 51% which isn't bad at all.
"We couldn't have won this game without Marlin Lane. He was a huge for us scoring the ball. I think he'll continue to improve and we'll keep seeing big numbers from him week in and week out. I'm very proud of how much he has progressed since I've been here."
"I think Justin did a great job distributing the ball. Justin got the ball to 7 different guys which is great. I hope he can continue that all year. If he can, he'll keep defenses on their toes because we're not just going to look to go to 1 or 2 receivers, but we could pass to anyone and that will be a key to our offense moving forward."
"All in all, I'm proud of our guys for this win, but we still have to improve to get to where we really want to be... which is the top of the SEC and a top team in the nation. We have a tough game next week vs. Cal and I believe our guys will come out with a fire and we'll beat them in front of 100,000+ fans that bleed orange. Overall, progress is being made and I'm excited to see what we will achieve this year."

"Wow, that was a great game." Butch Jones started off with. "The 2nd half we played was some of the best football I've ever seen. We outscored them 23-0 and totally shut down their offense. Great, great win."
"I saw a lot of improvement in our defense. We got 3 sacks on their QB, and a lot of pressure on him all day and they only got 40 rushing yards which is fantastic. We really did get a great push from our defensive line. Their level of play really improved from last week, and I'm very proud of all of them. They worked their tails off this week in practice and it really did show. They played an absolutely great game."
"Marlin Lane's run is what I think ultimately swung the momentum in our favor. That was an incredible run at the absolute perfect time. We give up the pretty deep pass for a touchdown, so on our first play on our next possession he takes it to the house. I think you'll be seeing that one on Sports Center's Top 10 here pretty shortly."
"Justin is having a great season so far. His completion % could be better, but he is playing good enough to get us wins and that's what ultimately matters. He spread the ball out well today by getting it to 7 different receivers again and didn't throw an interception at all. I thought he did great today and I think he'll continue to progress and be a very good QB for us the rest of the year."
"But, we can enjoy this win for the next 2 days, but Monday it's back to work in preparation for a big game at Oklahoma. That environment will really be a test to our guys mental toughness and will be great for letting our newcomers what they're about to experience come SEC play."
