Nothing hurts more than getting cheated against your rival.

The loss was exceptionally painful. I wanted to pull it off so bad but these things happen. The penalties were infuriating but as it is something I don't see week to week it was an interesting plot twist. We really need to bounce back here against Temple. Our schedule is not getting any easier anytime soon. Thanks for checking in and following along!

GIF on the montage is on point.

But man, that is a tough overtime drop. Thomas's elbow probably made things even harder on you. At least he'll be back next week for a tough Temple team.

Thank you for the kind words my friend. I am glad you liked the GIF. It was something I have had a lot of fun working with and will probably continue to tweak.

A very tough loss to stomach against Western. Coach Clayton was undefeated again rivals up until this point. That being said the Broncos are probably the best team in terms of talent in the conference. I am hoping Thomas can get back to form next week against a very good Temple team. Thanks for the great feedback.

Hoping to get the Temple game fired up this evening. Thank you for following along!

I really enjoy doing the around the league things and watching the other games each week. I actually will frequently come home from school and turn on a game in the background as I get a nap or do work around the house. It really all just adds to the immersion of it for me, which makes me love it even more.

Always appreciate you checking in!

Haha...back in my early 20s, pre-wife and kids, I used to do the exact same thing! I wouldn't sit there and watch the entire thing, but it was cool to have on in the background while doing other stuff. I'd even have a game going while I was watching something else on TV and I'd switch back to channel 3 every so often to see how "the game" is going. Good stuff! Enjoy it while it lasts my friend; you won't be able to do that sort of thing forever.

Haha! Got to love it. Nothing better in my mind that coming home after a long day in class or at the clinics and turning on a game from my dynasty while catching up on some sleep. Like you said though, got to enjoy these moments while they last. It adds so much immersion for me. Love it.

Sorry for the delay in updates all. I was hoping to play the Temple game earlier in the week but due to being in surgery Thursday morning (coupled with pre-surgical checks all into the night wednesday and then discharging my patient on Friday) I haven't found the time yet. I am going to try to play it today. Thank you all for continuing to follow along!

Year 2 (2012), Game 9, Temple at Eastern Michigan

Eastern Michigan freshman wide receiver Nick Vaughn took home player of the game honors for his 150 yard, two touchdown performance.

Cardiac Kids: Eastern Michigan Tops Temple 38-35 in Double Overtime

For second week in a row, Eagles need overtime to decide game | Freshman WR Vaughn goes off for 150 yds, 2 TDs | Eagles defense gets six sacks in win.

AP Ypsilanti – For the second week in a row, the Eastern Michigan Eagles would find themselves in an overtime thriller. This week, however, the Eagles were able to pull out the victory as they beat Temple 38-35 in double overtime. The Owls rallied from a 21-6 deficit in the second half to send the game into overtime tied at 28-28. Temple would score on their opening possession of overtime as star senior HB Bernard Pierce would find the endzone on a six yard scamper. Pierce would finish the days with 117 yards and a score. A one yard quarterback sneak by Eagles QB Alex Gillett on fourth and goal would force the game into a second overtime. Eastern Michigan was only able to score a field goal on their possession of the second overtime. However, the Eagles' defense would come up big with back to back sacks on Temple QB Mike Gerardi. Forced out of field goal range, Gerardi would attempt a desperation heave on fourth and long but it would fall harmlessly to the turf, sealing the victory for Eastern Michigan.

Senior wide receiver Nick Olds would get the first touchdown of the day on a 26 yard score. Olds has caught 14 passes for 200 yards and two scores from the slot wide receiver position.

Temple's offense looked completely flat in the first half as the Eagles jumped out to a 21-6 lead. Gillett hooked up with freshman WR Nick Vaughn on touchdown throws of 54 and 55 yards. Vaughn is leading the Eagles on the season with 25 catches for 703 yards and nine touchdowns. He is averaging a staggering 28.1 yards per catch.

Vaughn was not the only true freshman making big plays for the Eagles. DT Tremayne Smith led the defense with three sacks on the afternoon. The freshman tackle from Mentor, Ohio leads the team with 8.5 sacks on the season.

"A few more of these overtime games and I am going to have to start taking blood pressure medication. In all seriousness though, these are the kinds of games you train the long hours for. Our team showed a lot of grit pulling out the win." -- Eagles Head Coach Dan Clayton

Eastern Michigan (5-4) will be on the road next week as they take on conference leading Miami (6-1). The two teams last met in MAC championship game in 2011. The Eagles, who were double digit underdogs, shocked the Redhawks 31-14. Then senior halfback Corey Welch led the way with 164 yards and two scores. Miami is led by senior QB Zac Dysert (1738 yds, 18 TDs, 7 INT) and senior WR Andy Cruse (482 yds, 8 TDs). Kickoff is scheduled for 8 pm est.
