COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEMIFINAL MATCHUP ANALYSIS

4 West Virginia vs 1 Georgia Tech

4:30 PM/ET ESPN

A game of true heavyweights. Georgia Tech is loaded. In fact, loaded may be an understatement. Florida States current Coach, Cameel Verner, brought Georgia Tech to modern day prominence. While at Tech, Verner brought 6 National Titles to Atlanta in 13 years. Former FSU Quarterback, and Verner's old Offensive Coordinator, Matteo Sledge(NCAA 2006 XBOX), took over head coaching duties 2 years ago. In two years Sledge is 23-2 as Head Coach of the Jackets. Inlcuding a 13-0 start to the season this year.

Georgia Tech currently has 62 ..Four or Five-Star players on its current roster. Most (by far) in the country. Georgia Tech is led by Heisman Finalist QB, Weldon Plante (6'5" 220). A trio of Five-Star Running Backs headline Georgia Tech . Former number one overall player in the country out of High School, Doom Murphy (5'11", 228), Bertram Dupree (6'1", 237) and Titus Myrick (6'0 195) who also is a star track athlete for Georgia Tech, boasts a Georgia Tech record in the 100 meter race with a 10.03.

Defensively, which has always been a strength, are extremely(abnormaly big), fast and intelligent. Tech boasts a number of Five-Stars and potential first round picks on defense. NT Jamarcus June (6'6" 360), Linebackers Trinidad Pierre-Ohakim (6'3" 244) and Devon Hall (6'4" 250) lead the Jackets on Defense. In the secondary, potential First Round CB Joaquim Hansah-Bello (6'3" 220) and S Santana Dexter (6'4" 225) lead a star studded secondary for the Jackets.

In Cameel Verner's final year at Georgia Tech, he set an NFL record in draft picks by a school in a single draft. This year, Tech could possibly break that record.

West Virginia is led by Heisman Finalist QB, and possibly 1st overall pick, Melvin McCoy. McCoy has been a terror for teams all year long as hes thrown for over 4500 yards and 48 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions.

West Virginia has a host of talented recievers in Larry Townsend and Terrence Stegall, both of whom have over 1,000 yards recieving on the season.

Defensively, West Virginia is led by a dynamic linebacking corps in Orlando McAfee.

3 Florida State vs 2 Ohio State

8:15 PM/ET ESPN

The Semi Finals night caps off with the surprise team Florida State, and Head Coach Cameel Verner and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Florida State is led by Heisman Trophy winner Freshman Sarderrious Minter (6'3" ,237) Who amassed over 6,000 total yards and 54 Touchdowns on the season. Another super Freshman WR Jamar Reid also has been spectacular this sesason wit 54 Catches for over 1400 yards and 16 TDs.

Defensively, FSU is lead by the NCAA Sack Leader Freshman DL Zaveri O'Born (6'0 251) and former Georgia Tech Transfer, Rashad McCullough at Linebacker. DB Bihadda Maddox (5'11" 195) lead the Seminoles with 6 interceptions, and Thorpe and Lombardi Award Winner S Judah Jackson (6'6" 240)

Ohio State is led by a defense by committee as they have 4 to 5 linebackers they rotate that handle the load in run defense for the Buckeyes. But all eyes will be on WR C'Miste Pratt (6'4" 208) and RB Dontrell Waters (5'11" 208). They are the lifeblood of the offense and they have been the catalyst to the 13-0 start for Ohio State this year.

DE Le'Ron Foster (6'6" 273) has caused all kinds of Havoc for the Buckeyes on the edge, and the leader of the LB corps Timothy Williams (6'3" 232) leads the Buckeyes in tackles and is 4th in the country in tackles with 136.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

3 FLORIDA STATE vs 1 GEORGIA TECH

8:00 PM/ET ESPN

Editors Note Backstory:So, its funny it panned out this way. For most of you that have been following me, know I ended my Georgia Tech Dynasty to create a new Dynasty with Florida State and I placed Tech's old Coach, Cameel Verner as Florida State's Head Coach. And I promoted the Offensive Coordinator of Georgia Tech Matteo Sledge as Head Coach of the Yellow Jackets. I honestly didnt think we would cross paths, not this quickly anyway. In my second year of my Florida State Dynasty, here we are. So, a little background of Georgia Tech's Coach Matteo Sledge. He was my Quarterback for Florida State back on the XBOX days on NCAA 06 back in 2005. He was a three year starter, and went on playing a few years in the NFL when I imported him to Madden. He was one of the fastest players I ever played with. He literally had a 99 in speed at Quarterback. His throwing power was 97 but accuracy was 74. But back then his speed was the difference. The two had a tremendous career together at Georgia Tech winning 4 championships. While at Georgia Tech, Verner had 8 straight #1 recruiting classes, so its safe to say Tech is loaded. And its crazy seeing the players I recruited on NextGen gameplay. Anyway, all these years later, Verner and Sledge cross paths. What a storyline right?

TEACHER VS STUDENT

Well. The stage is set. Teacher vs Student. Teammate vs Teammate. Both Georgia Tech Coach, Matteo Sledge, and Former Georgia Tech Head Coach, yet Current Florida State Head Coach Cameel Verner Sr played together at Florida State back in the early 2000s. And just 3 years ago, they were on the sideline together. Sledge was Verner's Offensive Coordinator for Florida State from 2020 to 2027. Sledge was apart of 4 National Championship teams with Verner as his Offensive Coordinator for the Yellow Jackets. Now the two will duel it out to see who comes out on top this time.

However, in just Verner's second season as Florida State's head Coach, it's safe to say his roster isn't filled with top tier talent from top to bottom like Georgia Tech is. While at Tech, Verner filled the Yellow Jackets roster with elite talent year in and year out. He had 8 straight #1 recruiting classes while at Georgia Tech. And he just finished last season with a #1 class with Florida State also. But alot of Verner's old players that are Juniors and Seniors are still currently on Georgia Tech's roster, which is a huge reason why Tech is 14-0 on the season currently with the talent gap they have to their disposal.

"Yeah, I still love every single person on that roster. Those are special kids. They know they are special kids. And as you can see, Matteo is taking very good care of them. I'm very proud of each and every one of them" Said Coach Verner.

If Florida State is to come out on top, they will definately have to deal with the Depth that Georgia Tech has. Florida State has a talented roster, but it's mostly top heavy as Coach Verner hasnt had the time yet to fully fill out his roster just yet. But as Coach Verner puts it, "It's go time". Verner is looking for his 7th National Championship which would be an NCAA record. Matteo Sledge, is looking for his 1st as a Head Coach, but 5th overall.

PLAYERS FAMILIARITY

Coach Verner knew he needed a bit of help this year in order to compete at an elite level. And he used the transfer portal to his advantage. Three former Georgia Tech players are currently on Florida States roster. And it's probably not ironic that all three are starters. Senior LB Akeem Austin who has 68 tackles on the season and 7 sacks, Redshirt Junior LB Rashad McCullough who is second on the team in Tackles with 94, and Junior WR Carmelo Clancy has over 400 yards recieving for the Noles this season have all played pivotal roles for the Seminoles this year. While Austin a former three-star prospect, and McCullough a formver Five-Star prospect's careers at Georgia Tech didnt quite flourish like they wanted it to, they have really flourished this season with the Seminoles. And Carmelo Clancy, has always been the underdog. A former three-star from Brooklyn,NY has played 3 different positions for Coach Verner at FSU and Georgia Tech. Clancy moved from Running Back to Defensive Back at Georgia Tech where he claimed All-Conference honors at that position. Now at Florida State he's the starting slot WR for the Seminoles.

"We know all those guys over there very well. We competed with them in practice every day, and went to war with them in a lot of games. So we know the mentality they are going to bring. If we dont bring our A Game then it will be over with quickly because bringing their A Game is all they know." Said WR Carmelo Clancy

Senior LB Akeem Austin added "I spent 4 years there. I love that school with all my heart. And I've played in 2 National Championships there. This will be my third. So I know exactly what they are going through right now mentally preparing for us. They are going to bring nothing but the absolute best. And we have to match that."

While two of the former players were laser focused, Middle Linebacker Rashad McCullough who was a Five-Star recruit for the Yellow Jackets who had a rich history of injuries while enrolled, had a different approach "Man, I havent hit any of those guys in a long long time" He said with a laugh. "Monday can't get here fast enough. I just ready to play man. I'm just ready to play."

As you can see, this will be one for the ages.

Key Matchups

Georgia Tech easily has the most loaded roster in the country. It currently has 62 Four or Five Star players combined on its current roster. All of them are big, fast, and intelligent. QB Weldon Plante (6'5" , 220) leads the charge on offense, and the former #1 recruit in the country RB Doom Murphy (5'11' 227) who ran wild on the West Virginia defense in the semi-finals makes life a lot easier for Plante.

Georgia Tech also has a host of former Five-Star receivers on the outside, Bilitnetkoff award winner WR Travyione Ball (5'9" 200) leads the Tech receivers this year, along with the bigger wide outs WR Tyson Buckner (6'5" 195) and WR Dylan Busch (6'4" 218) who had a game high 123 yards receiving on 6 catches against the Mountaineers. Former Five-Star Tight End and former Basketball player Deshawn Bratcher (6'8 240) causes a ton of mismatches for teams also with his size, and athletic ability.

Defensively , the Yellow Jackets are huge, and they still run the 3-3-5 defense that Verner implemented while there, and the same defense he runs at Florida State. Junior DE Rohan Malice Jr (6'6" 300) is pegged as a 1st Round Pick, Senior DE Camden Bracken (6'4" 295) and another projected First round Pick Junior NT Jamarcus June (6'6" 363) are the 3 man front for the Jackets. Rohan Malice Jr's dad, Rohan Malice Sr, is the Defensive Line Coach currently for the Seminoles.

At Linebacker, Tech is led by Junior LB Trinidad Pierre-Ohakim (6'4" 245) and former Five-Star LB Junior Devon Hall (6'4" 250). JR LB Olanis Trahan(6'5" 265) finishes out the LB corps and is the pass rushing specialist for the Yellow Jackets, and he had 2 sacks in the Semi-Finals vs West Virginia.

Joqauin Hansah-Bello is a freak of nature at Cornerback. The Junior CB at 6'3" 220 is a DB that NFL Coaches cannot wait to get their hands on in this years draft. And his former High School teammate, DB Santana Dexter (6'4" 225) leads the back end for the Jackets at Safety. Former Five-Star DB Medarius Myles (6'1" 227) also will roam the secondary for the Yellow Jackets.

As you can see, they are an abnormaly large team. But FSU has been the hottest team in the country as of late and coaching has reigned surpreme all year. But have the Seminoles met a team that are just way too talented to over come? Only time will tell.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

2029 SEASON CLOSING

Man this season was a lot of fun. This mod brings so many challenges each week with different teams. It took a lot of adjustments, personnel changes etc to fit to make things work. I did not in my wildest years expect to win a championship this season, but so many crazy things happened. From Clemson losing to Syracuse, to Notre Dame losing to Old Dominion and many more..it was just like college football in real life. This was probably the most fun I've ever had in a dynasty that I've been doing since 2002.

Sarderrious Minter is a game changer and a player. Playing with him and growing with him throughout the season was extremely fun and I'm positive we would not be where we are without him.

Zalee Hamby had a very good ending to the season and actually ended up becoming the second leading WR on the team as a RB.

Jamar Reid and Kennard Thomas are as advertised. Very special athletes.

The Defense, is causes a lot of havoc as always. Lots of blitzes and pressure, but we gave up a TON of points this year. If the offense wasnt so explosive we would have been destroyed in a lot of games. Recruiting will be extremely important with a lot of people gradutating etc. But a very fun season.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

RECRUITING UPDATE

The National Champion Florida State Seminoles sit on top of the current recruiting rankings at #1 going into Signing Day. FSU has a total of 18 commitments so far, but are looking to finish the class particularly strong. Even though FSU has the #1 class, they still want to strengthen depth in certain areas on the team. Particularly on the Offensive Line. And with Signing Day approaching, new targets have emerged on the radar for FSU.

Season Targets left Uncommitted

WR Orbit Jackson 6’0” 200 Bay City, TX
#1 WR, #3 Overall

DE Ron McTaggart 6’7” 242 Soddy-Daisy, TN
#12 DE, #175 Overall

TE Tyler Bailey 6’4” 231 Jacksonville, FL
#14 TE, #182 Overall

G Anthony Branch 6’5” 340 Woodland Park, CO
#9 Guard, #239 Overall

Off-Season Targets Added

RB James Fuller 5'11" 232 Carbondale, PA
#51 RB, Unranked Overall

OL Steve Tyree6'6" 288 Alamogordo, NM
#81 T, Unranked Overall

OL Jeremy Young 6'4" 301 Brooklyn, NY
#56 G, Unranked Overall

OL Patrick Young 6'5" 269 Miami, FL
#91 G, Unranked Overall

OL Ken Moore 6'3" 272 Gulfport, MS
#23 C, Unranked Overall

OL Corey Irvin6'5" 286 Massapequa, NY
#25 C, Unranked Overall

OL Marcus Kirby6'7" 280 Bessemer, AL
#52 OT, Unranked Overall

DT Brad Barnes 6'5" 319 Tulsa, OK
#27 DT, Unranked Overall

DT Braylon McGrew 6'4" 273 Broomall, PA
#107 DT, Unranked Overall

LB Kevin Marshall 6'1" 222 St. Cloud, FL
#44 MLB, Unranked Overall

LB Charles Freeman 6'5" 232 Camp Verde, AZ
#30 OLB, Unranked Overall

RB Trey Wright 5'11" 202 Dayton, TN
#5 RB, #30 Overall

ATH Thomas Dailey 5'11" 195 Pensacola, FL
#4 ATH, #23 Overall

New Targets Breakdown

The Noles have two new Five-Star tagets on the board. RB Trey Wright, and ATH Thomas Dailey. Wright is a very fast and elusive back, that can compliment current commit Jardai Slaughter. Wright is a 4.35/40 guy that could bring a speed dimension to the FSU backfield they currently dont have. ATH Thomas Dailey, currently plays QB WR and Defensive Back in High School. It appears his best landing spot at the next level is Receiver. However, FSU has a loaded WR class, and is still in the running for WR Orbit Jackson. I do not expect FSU to land both, but It appears Jackson is a long shot as he is trending heavily to Texas A&M, while Dailey isnt the explosive athlete Jackson is, he is a solid option of FSU can land one or the other.

FSU wants to land atleast 3 to 4 Offensive Lineman to finish the Cycle. Remaining Season Target, OL Anthony Branch is the top target, however FSU is going hard after OL Jeremy Young, OL Corey Irvin, and OL Marcus Kirby. FSU likes Versatile Lineman, and while none of these players are day one impact guys, they could be long term impact players if developed properly. All have great frames to pack solid weight on and can be placed anywhere throughout the front line.

With the news of former Five-Star Sapomo Onwtagwu no longer apart of FSU's Football team, FSU would like to add one or two more Linebackers to this class. Three-Star LB Kevin Marshall is the top target to add late to the class.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

FSU finished its 2030 class meeting a few needs but still missing out on a few also. However, the Noles did cap a star studded WR class by nabbing the #2 Overall player in the country WR Orbit Jackson, who all believed was heading to Texas A&M.

Another big pick up for FSU was speedy Five-Star RB Trey Wright. FSU really shored up its backfield for the next few years signing this speedy prospect out of Tennessee.

FSU also finished the class with 3 Offensive Lineman , OL Anthony Branch, OL Ken Moore, and OL Marcus Kirby.

Lastly, the nephew of Head Coach Cameel Verner Sr, Mikkie Munday is the last recruit to be signed by FSU out of Hollywood, FL. Munday has plenty of size and athletic ability to help the offense of FSU.
