Yeah bro it should be a fun ride. There are still some solid pieces on this roster but the future is a question mark, especially once Matt Ryan hangs up his cleats.

Are you using real draft classes?

Yes sir, I’ve used BradC’s draft classes for 2020 and 2021. I plan on using his 2022 class as well the fictional ones after that

2021 NFL DRAFT

For the third time in franchise history the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used the number one overall pick on a quarterback, taking Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson University. He will compete with Jameis Winston and Joe Burrow, who they selected in last years draft, for the starting job.

Cornerback Patrick Surtain II out of Alabama was selected 2nd by the Bengals, quarterback Justin Fields of Ohio State went 3rd to the Broncos, linebacker Micah Parsons went 4th to the Falcons, and USC defensive tackle Jay Tufele rounded out the top 5 after being picked by the Steelers.

The Atlanta Falcons got one of the best prospects in the draft by selecting Parsons with the 4th overall pick. They filled one of their biggest needs as he will start at left outside linebackers from day one.

Their key focus for the rest of the draft was getting better in the trenches as they selected Georgia center Trey Hill in the 2nd round, followed by back-to-back defensive ends in Michigan product Aidan Hutchinson and Rashad Weaver of Pittsburgh. All three of these players will have the opportunity to contribute in their rookie seasons.

In the fourth round the Falcons added depth at the tight end position by selecting Kenmore Gamble out of Florida.

The Atlanta Falcons hit the reset button in the offseason, cleaning house after firing both their GM and head coach. In comes former Bears offensive coordinator Rob Roy, who took full control of the franchise and will look to put the pieces together for a playoff run.

“This team has loads of potential and if we can get things clicking early on this season, I can see us having a special year,” said head coach Rob Roy.

On paper the Falcons offense looks solid, full of superstars and playmakers. However, it is their defense that will carry this team. Deion Jones is the leader on this unit and he will look to mentor rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who was taken with the 4th overall selection in the 2021 draft.

He is one of the few rookies that will step in and contribute from day one, as 2nd round pick Trey Hill will start at left guard and 3rd round pick Aidan Hutchinson will be the teams starting right defensive end.

Matt Ryan enters his 13th season as the Falcons starting quarterback and although he has looked sharp the past couple of years, he is due for a decline at 36 years old.

The good news is he still has one of the best receivers in the league to throw to in Julio Jones, who is just one of the many weapons at Ryan’s disposal. Calvin Ridley continues to improve and Donovan Peoples-Jones is coming into his own.

Roy and the Falcons also continued to try and improve their offensive line in the offseason, adding center Mike Pouncey and rookie guard Trey Hill, hoping to keep Ryan off the turf.

Bold prediction, that can be a tough division I'd think. Don't seem to see many people using the Falcons.
